recommend Headphones, by swan on Dec 31, 2009 16:44:46 GMT 1, Anybody who can afford to buy art to chuck on a wall should be able to get a pair of Sennheiser HD600 or HD650's, though personally I would prefer a pair of Stax SRS2050II's (I have the old version)... though whether you actually want to dump more than 250 quid on headphones would depend on how much you intend to use them

The sound I got from mine was excellent for the ยฃ50 I paid (although you may well find them for less nowadays). Someone got very lucky when I left mine on a plane! However, if you want them for mixing or studio use, I'd suggest something larger that offers more complete external noise blocking.

My primary use is watching stuff late at night on the laptop so as not to disturb the missus, but yeah, some mp3 files are crap quality and ipod sound isn't as good in my experience as say CD's. Still gotta be worth getting something comfortable that doesn't distort too much at higher volume though (for those London Underground and British Rail moments).

That said even a small upgrade to say a ยฃ25 - ยฃ30 of Sennheissers makes a big difference over the cheap ones that come with most MP3 players ;D
