U2 your opinion?, by Coach on Feb 28, 2009 2:29:52 GMT 1, See, I dont know much, and I am happy to be corrected, but a few things occur to me. First, I had understood that huge a amount of work/funds raised in relation to hiv, such that a huge number of people in the thirld world are recieving drugs that they wouldnt otherwise be recieving, thus saving untold lives. More than I will ever achieve. Second, and much less importantly, I am not a U2 fan - I quite liked their early work - Boy era - but it's not any where near as bad as a lot of music thrust upon us. Third - Pud - I had not seen that vid of u2 with Pavorotti before - and I must say it made my hairs stand on end - thank you for that. My 2p c

U2 your opinion?, by Replete on Feb 28, 2009 2:40:21 GMT 1, Oh and in reference to my earlier statement that Coldplay are like the musical equivalent of fog in my world, I retract it as that's very unfair on fog as it can be quite a cool atmospheric condition and a boon to the misanthropes of society.
Coldplay are the musical equivalent of drizzle.

They've sucked since Pop IMO. Most would say since Zooropa, but I thought Pop was pretty good...the rest after are awful "adult light rock".

U2 your opinion?, by kahuna on Feb 28, 2009 3:43:11 GMT 1, First went to see them play a small venue during the War tour. Most recently in an arena for Vertigo with Kanye West as the opening act.
Music is decent but Bono is a self-indulgent, hypocritcal t**t. He campaigns for third world debt relief but is happy profiting from overpriced concert tickets, merchandise and CD's. I guess he is the only man allowed to profit from capitalism.

U2 your opinion?, by arcam on Feb 28, 2009 3:59:46 GMT 1, Regardless of everyones opinion of the individuals, I saw U2 play in the VERY early days to a crowd of 300, I went to the Joshua Tree tour, Zooropa, PoP and the last Vertigo at Manchester City, each and every concert blew me away. The Zooropa tour in particular was visually stunning. They also played a free concert to all those wanting to attend that held a UB40 card. Despite every show worldwide selling out, the cost of the production nearly bankrupt the group! The worlds biggest band, a c0ck leading them in many ways but still someone who has raised serious issues globally, given his time and effort, used his profile to try and help where he can. Regardless of what you think of him/them, the world is NOT a worse place for having them around!! Just my tuppence worth. I pretty much agree with that.
U2 are like Marmite you either love them or hate them.

You've hit the nail on the head mate, the world is not a worse place for having them around. Live at Redrocks video footage is one of my faves, although not a big fan!

At least Coldplay agreed to give a percentage of ALL their future earnings to charidy once they started hitting big bucks.
