U2 your opinion?, by Replete on Feb 28, 2009 0:49:28 GMT 1, Was this inspired by just watching him swagger around on Johnathan Ross?
I'd personally go for the former but if some good comes off the back of it then that's ok by me.
P.S I think their music is average at best and usally the same old sound again and again.
I was listening to them perform that new Boots track and I was instantly reminded of any number of well known tracks including We Didnt Start The Fire by Billy Joel.

U2 your opinion?, by spenie1975 on Feb 28, 2009 1:02:35 GMT 1, I like the fact that every album they try and push the envelope. A lot of bands sit on a safe format and will not try anything new. U2 never seem to do this. Not a big fan of Bono but the guy can sing. Listen to The Joshua Tree if you need reminding how good of a band they are. Love them or hate them they are still a breath of fresh air to all this manufactured boy band shite.

U2 your opinion?, by Replete on Feb 28, 2009 1:05:57 GMT 1, Yeah I do have a guilty love of that Billy Joel track especially if you ever hear Osymyso's mix of it spliced with Stakker's Humanoid!
My older brother put me off U2 for life as he's such a dick anything he liked I'd naturally have to scorn. He's a second hand car salesman who loves going to hard house nights like Good Greef.
"Nuff said" as he likes to say.

U2 your opinion?, by Replete on Feb 28, 2009 1:12:03 GMT 1, And I'd take them over any boy band too, but I dont think they're groundbreaking in anyway when to compared to the likes of The Who, Pink Floyd or my personal favourite Frank Zappa. I've been sketching and listening to Joe's Garrage, and We're Only In It For The Money over the last few days and I was lamenting the loss of such a great composer, innovator and satarist all rolled into one.
I found "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee" and "Catholic girls" especially poignant last night :!

U2 your opinion?, by Replete on Feb 28, 2009 1:36:25 GMT 1, Coldplay are the closest thing to fog in my musical world.
And the best thing that came from U2 is the beat backbone to DJ Shadow's early work Lost And Found. He is another artist that has sadly lost his musical compass and has wandered into mediocre waters.

U2 your opinion?, by jonpud on Feb 28, 2009 1:41:47 GMT 1, Regardless of everyones opinion of the individuals, I saw U2 play in the VERY early days to a crowd of 300, I went to the Joshua Tree tour, Zooropa, PoP and the last Vertigo at Manchester City, each and every concert blew me away.
The Zooropa tour in particular was visually stunning. They also played a free concert to all those wanting to attend that held a UB40 card.
Despite every show worldwide selling out, the cost of the production nearly bankrupt the group!
The worlds biggest band, a c0ck leading them in many ways but still someone who has raised serious issues globally, given his time and effort, used his profile to try and help where he can.
Regardless of what you think of him/them, the world is NOT a worse place for having them around!!
Just my tuppence worth.

U2 your opinion?, by They call me Stephen on Feb 28, 2009 1:55:09 GMT 1, They must be doing something right for the amount of records they sell and have done so around the world. Itโs not my cup of tea and i don't own any of their records but i will admit that some of their songs are pretty darn good, I prefer the older stuff up to pop era.
I'd say it's nay on impossible to be regards as the 'biggest band in the world' and not be a self indulgent tw*t, i'm sure he'd be much more manageable had he just been a regular bloke in a regular job...probably would have got a ribbing for his height though
edit: talking of channel 4...the cure are pretty awesome and have some gems of songs!
