Reading Festival 08, by arcam on Apr 8, 2008 14:36:21 GMT 1, WRITE IN TO WHERE? mean fiddler? Yeah.....that's what I heard anyway.
Edit: I've just checked on the mean fiddler website and Reading isn't mentioned. Doesn't look like they do the festival anymore.

Reading Festival 08, by buddings on Apr 8, 2008 14:53:06 GMT 1, found this:
IS IT REALLY TRUE THAT YOU CAN STILL BUY WEEKEND TICKETS ON THE GATE, EVEN THOUGH THEY'VE SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE ELSE?
It is indeed true! Meanfiddler deny this every single year, but there will ALWAYS be tickets.
They hold back 3000 weekend tickets, and i presume a large number of day tickets as well. AND as an added bonus, you pay for a ticket at base price, unlike the rest of us who buy them off the net and have to pay about an extra ยฃ10 in service charges, handling charges, postage and packaging, delivery charges and whatever else they seem to need money for, so that our tickets arrive on our doorstep in one piece........
The idea is that you pay for a real ticket at the actual price, not at some jumped up price from a dodgy, unshaven man, with no teeth (for some reason they're always covered in paint) for a ticket that might not even be real......
Tickets go on sale at 11am on the Thursday - but best get there well before that - I arrived on Thursday 2004, bright and early at 8am and the queue was already spilling out onto Richfield Avenue, about 200m from the box office. Tickets are restricted to two per person, so if there's 4 of you, you'll need to either all queue up get at least 2 people to queue up.

Reading Festival 08, by buddings on Apr 8, 2008 17:18:28 GMT 1, but ive been led to believe that every year there are loads of fake tickets being sold, i got one off a tout last year for ยฃ10 above cost but it was pretty risky, i made sure i compared it with my mates ticket before i handed over the money

Reading Festival 08, by bert on Apr 8, 2008 19:24:37 GMT 1, Keep an eye on ebay - once the initial fire buying calms down, you can get weekend tickets for about ยฃ20-ยฃ30 over face value which ain't too shabby.
Can't wait for this year, Rage Against the Machine are just about my favourite band ever.

Reading Festival 08, by discoduster on Apr 9, 2008 19:53:24 GMT 1, For the last 3 years Ive gone for the "Heavy" day on Sunday. Got tickets from the aforementioned dodgy blokes up by the station.
And to be fair, each time they've been under cost and been hospitality wristbands which get you round the back where you bump into the latest t**t from big brother and the likes.
Never knew that about the tickets on the gate before and seeing as this year they have the best headliners ever I'm intending to go for the whole weekend.
Love ya!
