Blur reunion , by romanywg on Dec 10, 2008 22:15:26 GMT 1, Apparently I heard that Damon has to do the concerts as he lost so much money on the dreadful Monkey Journey To The West. I left at the interval it was so bad. Generally speaking you don't extend a theatre run to try and make up for losses, you tend to cut your losses and end the run early. Could be wrong, but would say you are mis-informed on that one.
I heard it from a friend who's brother is a member of the band and I guess he should know.

Blur reunion , by They call me Stephen on Dec 10, 2008 22:20:36 GMT 1, hewlett publically said they were making no money on the monkey tour and that it had been breaking even but i'd find this hard to believe with the ammount of half price tickets being offered whilst it was on.
if a blur reunion gives damon a bit of cash enabling him to go off on a new venture then fair play to him. who would have thought gorillaz would have ended up where it did when they first came together and i personally loved his mali music cd

Yeah I suppose so, but that said, can't see it, maybe it was a reason given in jest that the person took seriously. Royalties alone will see Albarn coining a fair bit every month.

Blur reunion , by romanywg on Dec 11, 2008 0:02:39 GMT 1, They also said that there was another Gorillaz album in the pipeline. Don't know if this is news but if it is you know where you heard it first.

Blur reunion , by becksaboo on Dec 12, 2008 0:19:04 GMT 1, I believe Damon and Jamie bought the rights to monkey from the french government (or some kind of parisian art house) so they have taken all the financial risk but I suppose at least then they can control it.
Although I don't think Damon is particularly interested in money, I think this a great way for him to make loads which he can then plough into future projects which aren't particularly money spinners - isn't he working on a spanish ballet?
Not that I really care, I love blur and am looking forward to this!
