I came across a Directors Cut of the video of his new song 'Illegal Attacks' and it's a belter.

Got a commission on the go at the moment of a Bay Window VW. It's looking pretty sweet if I do say so myself. I'll pop a picture up when it's done.

Ian Brown, by niceguy on Sept 9, 2007 10:53:17 GMT 1, Afi here is a pic of this print... also thanks for the pm scavos, do you know of Ian Wright? For the benefit of anyone that doesn't he's an artist/illustrator that was commissioned by the NME for years to produce protraits of some of the world's greatest musicians. His portrait of sun ra, done using a credit card and ink on a bread board is awesome. He also turned up to do a portrait of grand master flash... legend has it that he chalked up an amazing protrait of 'flash' on a kitchen table using a razor blade and some the finest bolivian flake around at the time. I'll try to find some pictures... regards.

Ian Brown, by goffy on Sept 10, 2007 16:23:16 GMT 1, This will piss you off but......Ian Brown was lucky to be in an O.K. band when let's face it their only competition was the Happy Mondays. He cannot sing to save his life and that is why his voice always use to be low in the mix. He has got to be the most overated singers ever! And he helped bring back flared trousers during his 15 minutes.

your right( low mix etc cant sing) but wrong, you dont have to be a good singer to change the world with your first album Youth right? John Lydon, Joe Strummer, Liam Gallager, Ian Brown ,christ even Razorlight were good after that they go downhill (some of them)

Goffyxtc, you are absolutely right about Ian's voice. He can't sing to save his life. Saw him at Brixton a couple of years ago and it hadn't improved a bit. BUT, his stage presence is strong and when backed by Squires guitar playing, lets face it he could get away with murder. Respect to him also for keeping his accent and not doing a fat Bob and going for a mid atlantic pose.

Saw him in Ireland last summer, he kept showing me magic tricks before he went on which made my day. ;D Unfortunately i have to agree that his voice was poor as he murdered I Wanna Be Adored.

True but surely its not just about the voice, the lyrics and stage presence make a difference.

Ian Brown, by goffy on Sept 12, 2007 19:21:58 GMT 1, According to the reviews that I have read about his new album, his lyrics about the Iraq War etc leave a lot to be desired. Did you read his interview in Uncut, the part about his fan mail. Basically he said that in the 80's he got a fan letter from some girl who was telling him about being abused and how his music helped. His reply was, fuck that, if that's what fan mail is like then I don't want to read it, and he hasn't read any since. His mother must be very proud.
