i wish them luck, as I appreciate the fact that they're a "real" band...
but, yes, if they float yr boat go buy the album...lets have more real bands in the charts...instead of manufactured shyte like paul pots

The Coral - Roots and Echoes, by tomhills1 on Aug 7, 2007 21:22:11 GMT 1, a lot of negativity on this board for the coral, god knows why. most people who aren't in to them are probably living in the past though, looking through rose tinted bi-focals at their halcyon days. the coral are a seven piece band who as a whole are greater than the sum of their parts, they have a member whose brother was in the la's and are as good as any other band live right now, if not better.
i'm sure all the 'right-on' trendy lot who w*nk over the likes of the arcade fire and cold war kids, would love these boys if they weren't dirty scousers and whored themselves to the media a bit more.
i totally agree about the zutons, seen them a few times, and they're good live but i just don't think the songs are good enough. the coral may not be the most fashionable band about, i guarantee their music will still stand up in years to come. all you haters are wrong, wrong, wrong. still, at least they made proper music in your day.

kings of leon have been my band of the year, seen them a couple of times this year and i hope to again too. they're deeply underrated too in my opinion, i know they do alright but when you think about some of the praise that gets lavished about on some bands, then it goes to show what certain people in the 'media' know.
good shout with maximo park too, still not actually bought the new album (i know!), but loving most of what i've heard off it.

The Coral - Roots and Echoes, by Run Pig Run on Aug 9, 2007 18:24:45 GMT 1, the zutons are nothing compared to the coral. I do like the new album but i would of prefered to have a few less mellow songs and a few more stompers like arabian sands or skeleton key. shes got a reason is pretty much a perfect song though, i think (like the invisable invasion) you've got to let this album grow on you a bit. kings of leon - album of the year (another album that takes a few listens to get into) good live too.

The Coral - Roots and Echoes, by tomhills1 on Aug 9, 2007 21:59:01 GMT 1, i think the thing with the coral is there is no quality control, they make an album, they release it they move on - it's pure art. over time you can pick out what works for you best but they resist the urge to censor themselves and put a percieved image of perfection, it's not raw but it is certainly very much true to itself (buzz word version - organic). that's why i love them so much, they make it, put it out there and allow the listener to pick the bones of it, good or bad. it shows a massive amount of respect for the fan/listener too, it shows that they want to allow you the freedom to make up your own mind. maybe that explains the lack of press collusion afterall the press only serve to cater for your own ends and the image you want t o project. no press means you make up your own mind.
now do you see why i don't understand why if people don't like them they at least respect them. so much more class than your run of the mill whores.

The Coral - Roots and Echoes, by a4mnt on Aug 10, 2007 21:55:23 GMT 1, So this is where LBW hangs out.
Lovin the last 2 Coral albums. Kings of Leon are fucking great. And agreed, enjoying the Zutons live, mainly as I appreciate anyone playing live instruments - and they support Liverpool ;D being scousers and all that.
Fuck I miss this forum. I'm gonna have even less time now that the season starts tomorrow though. Oh well.
