Favourite Album of 07, so far, by pkt75 on Oct 13, 2007 2:01:55 GMT 1, being a 'Pie n Mash' kinda northener, I generally stick with wot I like and theres not much room 4 change (quite Sad i know). Although I known they have been around 4 ages, Iv jus discovered 'Snow patrol' (even sadder). But my point is the only album I have Bought this year which I wouyld consider the best is my compleatley brand spankin new, unscratched 'portishead's Dummy'. Over ten years old but still the best album Iv bought in 07. Im sure this doesnt count. Sorry 4 rambling post, little fellas kicked in.

Caught them in Belfast at the beginning of the year and they were incredible. Went to their home coming in Bangor in August, but unfortunately meet up with a group of friends I have not been out with in 20 years.....don't remember much about the gig........... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

24th april last year.
as an aside, i truly despise them, only the killers i hate more.
the best album this year could yet still be released so perhaps this is a moot point/thread? in the interests of going with the flow, the arctics have made the next step with their album, not just turned out the same old s**te. arcade fire have some timeless gems on the new album but for me it has to be the kings of leon. i'm gonna see them at wembley for the third time this year, the album is the one thing i've heard all year that has a begining, middle and end - much like a good book. i think it is their most complete release to date and at the risk of sounding like cliche john, it is one of those true classic albums you can listen to from start to finish without skipping a single track.
babyshambles album is worth a shout, not an instant classic but certainly an attempt to push things forward and a big plus to our drug addled friend for being true to himself, in spite of the fact he is a complete p*nis.

At last someone with some decent taste!
Portishead?? Snow Patrol?? Calvin Harris??? Kings of Leon? Jesus.
I'm surprised M.I.A. didn't seem to make much of a splash. It's a great album, and a vast improvement on Arular. After Dark is the one i've listened to most this year though...

and bloc party, WTF???
knock who you like but i must seriously question the judgement of anyone that has a word against the kings of leon. each to his own but to me it's akin to someone saying they'd rather eat their own sh*t than have a fillet steak, asti spumante over dom perignon or wimpey over the ivy.

Well yes, I think the new bloc party is pretty terrible as well. I just got excited as I was about to post 'after dark' & saw it at the top of that list.
'We Can Create' by Maps is another great one that springs to mind this year....
