new arctic monkeys material., by tomhills1 on Apr 2, 2007 20:07:49 GMT 1, at the risk of turning this into an "arctic monkeys & football thread", i have a link for some bootlegs of their new stuff. 7 tracks including the new single, they are what they are: a bit muffled etc but they do give you a feel for the new album.
maybe only for those who, like me, can't wait three weeks for the album. particular favourite is what if you were right first time, gonna be a b-side on this brianstorm single.

new arctic monkeys material., by tomhills1 on Apr 12, 2007 22:40:00 GMT 1, The album is quality, trust me.
i've been meaning to wax lyrical about this for a few days now. first, cheers BH for the tip off, it was great to get the whole album in decent sound quality. i got the live versions of about 8 tracks a few weeks ago and although they sounded pretty good it was hard to make out the lyrics. now however you can see why these boys are really something special. this house is a circus is quite simply one of the best tunes i've heard in years, kind of puts all that nu-rave crap in it's place. d is for dangerous is typical arctics and sounds like a logical progression from the first album. you've got teddy picker also in the same vain and the track that carries on where the last album left off, flourescent adolescent, is a perfect sing-along anthem. what sets this album apart from the last is it's depth, there are some songs on there that do nothing for me, track 6 can't remember what it is, and balaclava sounds a bit like a b-side for me, do the bad thing does nothing for me at all. from the start, brianstorm, through do me a favour, this house is a circus, if you were there beware and yellow bricks, right through to the stunning 505 make this one of the most mature follow-ups to what can already be described as a classic album. 505 in particular sets this band apart from being genius tunesmiths with a lyrical wit, to being absolute classic songwriters. that is no exageration, the arctic monkeys truly have no peers. in a time when the NME see fit to make the automatic headliners on the brats tour, you really begin to see that the furore surrounding the arctics is not hyperbole but merely understated admiration, legends for me. like anything you should ever fall in love with, they appeal on so many levels and they continue to surprise you, even when you think you know them. i'm going to see them tomorrow night at the astoria, i've seen oasis play there in the past and thought nothing would top that, now i'm not so sure. can't wait. ;D

new arctic monkeys material., by GVD on Apr 16, 2007 10:42:57 GMT 1, Thanks! This one is very nice, but the first album was better IMHO. But still very good! I find that all the songs are more in the style of that song perhaps vampires a bit strong (all you people are vampires!).
Fluorecent adolecent is my favorite.

new arctic monkeys material., by tomhills1 on Apr 16, 2007 19:46:32 GMT 1, i'm not very happy at all. went to see the arctics at the astoria on friday (sooner they demolish that dump the better). wicked night, amazing gig and a band so on top of their game it's scary.
what has really pissed me off is that as they finish a certain romance and i make my way out on to charing cross road, non the wiser, they decide to do an encore for the first time in their career. not only that but it was a one song wonder. and what a song. my favourite on the album by a mile, 505.
the law of the f*cking sod. i only find this out today when those tw*ts on radio 1 keep going on about it, rubbing my f*ckin nose in it. i think i'm going to have to go up to sheffield this weekend and try again.
aaarrrgh!!!!!

I had tickets for that night but my lass had to move north for her job, so we sold them in the hope of getting tickets for the Newcastle gig. But I left it to late and couldn't get my hands on any.....

Ouch! that's got to hurt. If anyone ever goes to an eels gig, don't leave till they chuck you out. On one tour they came out each night and played Mr E's beautiful blues after the house lights came on and most people had left. and once greg dulli come out and play a few more songs after the roadies had started packing everything away just cos people wouldn't leave. would have been massively pissed to have missed those two. probably doesn't make you feel any better, sorry!
