Haven't tried Blu-ray yet but a friend of mine told me that the BBC Planet Earth blu-ray onto a true HD TV is jawdoppingly good. Any 100% digital films like Invincibles should be good too.
I managed to get TVersity software (on home PC) working with PS3 so it's possible to stream content to the PS3 (films/mp3 etc), so now it's a media centre too
Latest Windows Media player does this also but not as many formats supported.

a good reason to get a 360 rather than ps3 is exclusive content for gta4. also you can get gears of war, amazing game. and its cheaper. and it has more games.
but... theres also a few plusses for ps3 such as higher framerate etc..
