That first one is a cracking photo romanywg.

I use a Nikon D70s - brand new cost me almost a grand but you can pick them up on Ebay for about £300 now. Bargain, I'd say.

I am with Romanywg on this one. My pocket camera is not as good as his but I have the FS3 which is a few models under his.

But the Panasonic Lumix's with the Leica lenses can't really be faulted.

Love the pics by romany, top one is pretty cool but a little noisy in the sky. Overall the effect is pretty stunning and nice & moody. 2nd pic is v.good too.

I would def' go with his recommendation, it's priced very well and will do everything you want. Probably not wise to jump into the DSLR until you really need to, the glass can get very expensive. Although the Nikon D70s is a great body at todays prices. I use the Canon 350d with a few 2.8 lenses but from using it for quite a few years there has been loads of times when I wish I had a smaller compact.

Yeah first one was my second shot in HDR. Still trying. 2nd one I put in there because its a Macro shot, just to give some range.
I am just about to move up to DSLR for serious shots. Possibly the Nikon D700 as I have the glass already from my old Nikons, pre digital days

Romanywg,i have the Nikon D200 and the Fuji S5.They both take older lenses and are based on the same body,although they are completely different beasts.The latest camera in that field is the D300,not enough of an upgrade to move from the D200 for me.I'm wondering what the expected D400 is going to through into the mix.The D700 is a fine camera,i was playing with it in the shop the other day.I just can't get over the price and would rather spend my cash on the best lenses as camera's seem to be upgraded way too often for my liking.Is it the full frame feature that you are after?.

Im suprised too that Romany is 'just' on compact, shows how good you get with all your practise! I got a Lumix DMC TZ5 christmas time cant fault the lens quality. Cheers for the HDR tips.

I got a Nikon D40, maybe six months ago, its brilliant, can fault it!

I'm waiting till April for the Lumix DMC-TZ7. I go to a lot of gigs and cant wait to try out the HD movie function.
