new mac user! help!, by Richard on Aug 20, 2008 21:39:22 GMT 1, Right click is CTRL+Click
Safari is fine and I use it 90% of the time. Some sites work better on FireFox though.
Must have programs...not really.

new mac user! help!, by tickz on Aug 20, 2008 23:20:55 GMT 1, thanks people, really, the right click thing has now opened the whole machine up, I am starting to see why these things are so highly rated. I have just sync it to my old mobile and dragged all the contacts I thought I lost to my new phone,it just synced with no download this and that,no software disc needed. the web browser thing is just a tabbed browsing thing, prob just go for firefox, gonna stick microsoft office on it and a printer for work. any advise on speakers!! pimp my mac up?!

Spaces is for screen management (especially useful on a laptop). So you can isolate certain programs to not open windows over top other programs
Expose should be on by default. Next time you have lots of windows open try hitting F10, F11, or F12. You'll see what each does.
And try holding down the APPLE KEY (left of spacebar) and the TAB key. Then use the directional arrows to switch between open programs. Occasionally useful.

new mac user! help!, by csmart on Sept 9, 2008 21:30:05 GMT 1, One more thing. A program called Image Capture is probably already installed. Occasionally you might not want your videos or photos to get imported to iPhoto. So Image Capture can send those photos to your Desktop or wherever instead. iPhoto has a tendency to keep photos (and their Originals) forever. There's even a Trash (folder) inside iPhoto. So even if you thought you'd deleted photos, they are still there. And if you ever modify a photo (like crop it), the Original gets saved too. This is good and bad, but your harddrive over the years can get full of photos you wanted gone and still linger.

Or just keep hitting tab after holding down command.
Edit: command=apple key=pretzel
