If Word or Notepad are ok I'd suggest it's a virus or malware relating to the application you're using. Use a malware and spyware checker like Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware to check the system
It's a bit pants but as a solution to type properly for your banksy.info fix before getting the problem sorted you can use an on-screen keyboard. On exp just go to Start - Programs - Accessories - Accessibility - On-screen keyboard
This will pop up with a small qwerty keyboard on screen which you can type on using the mouse.
If the virus/spyware checked doesn't fix it, I'd try a system restore or re-install XP/Vista. Good luck!
