I want to convert my DVD collection to mp4 so I can watch movies on my iPhone when I'm traveling around.
I've googled it and most software seems to cost between $25 - $40 dollars.
Can anyone recommend a particular piece of software or perhaps even a free app?

I did see that but it only seems to work on OSX 10.5 and above and I've only got 10.4.
I'll hunt around and see if I can find an older version to download

Converting DVD to iPhone, by spirit on Mar 27, 2009 22:38:27 GMT 1, I think Handbrake will rip encrypted DVDs if you also have another great free program called VLC installed (its a media player that plays just about anything). If you have any problems ripping with Handbrake, then rip with MacTheRipper (excellent and free) and use Handbrake for conversion only. I hear the handbrake site has a reasonably helpful forum so if you have any issues with it you might want to ask there.
All these programs are free so your best bet is to download them and check them out yourself. Definitely no need to fork out cash for what you want I'd say.
