Banksy Street Art โข Tesco Generation, by curiousgeorge on Mar 2, 2009 18:55:33 GMT 1, i dont post here very often, but this thread has got me humoured. if you paint on the street, the moment the paint leaves the can and hits the wall, its not yours. you cant do s**t about it after that, apart from take a snap, and go onto the next wall. watch style wars, these guys are just another 'cap', theyre getting up, thats all there is to it.
Graffiti has ALWAYS been transient end of,Mr B damn well knows and respects this. Suddenly when money/and others get involved the 'rules' seem to have changed. I don't agree with what Bank Robber may have done, i guess an ideal solution to that very problem is to collect all the removed/stolen streetwork and put it a building for anyone to go and view for free
Just caught a few posts here, which seem to talking of the same thing

Nothing unfortunately.
It is graffiti and people go over other peoples work all the time, which is cool. Normally though,as a sign of respect, you buff over the original piece before applying your own. I also don't know of any graffiti writers who would go over a memorial piece. Its a bit like pissing on someones grave. They did'nt even have the balls to do a large piece, just a pissy little tag, before running to their mums.

Banksy Street Art โข Tesco Generation, by skelly on Mar 2, 2009 23:19:11 GMT 1, Then they should just do work indoors IMO. The street is the street. It's going to get pissed up upon, tagged, dogged, spat at, shagged against, photographed, painted over, knocked down. I think besides the obvious "fag" comment that the Banksy getting dogged is a good thing. It's his wall. It always happens. It just took a little while longer this time. He'll be back.
Agree with this sentiments exactly...a few days ago in another thread about a Banksy defacement I responded "like Banksy says, paint over it if you don't like it"...I can't really justify assigning these values to pieces of street art, so I feel street is street, fair game completely!

Banksy Street Art โข Tesco Generation, by spiiiiiike on Mar 3, 2009 11:53:37 GMT 1, I just don't get why someone would want to not only deface a cool piece of street art, let alone deface it with jealous 'turf war' rants and homophobic crap.
For me now graffiti and street art is about making a wall or a bus stop more interesting - not destroying something that makes the world a more colourful or interesting place.
Cut and 10 foot seem the main culprits. I imagine they do the same kind of crap over community murals. They probably go running back to mummy and daddy's gaff in Crouch End when they've finished being all 'ghetto'.

Quite funny that 10foot would destroy so much street art when he comes across as very middle class himself. Ive meet him on a few occasions at memorial jams. he paints with aze alot who was with ozone the night they defaced the original banksy that was there before. And as for tox and cut their likely to rob you at knife point so i dont understand why people on here keep egging him on

Banksy Street Art โข Tesco Generation, by minutewheel on Mar 9, 2009 21:33:35 GMT 1, but also banksys work in private collection are not safe as the pictures of the last artpartment party shows.only luck that it was in a plexibox. Some would say removing street art is the same as defacing it!! Great find mammal!
