M, obviously it wouldn't have lasted there long, and I'm only speculating as to the location. The hoarding / railing look familiar. However i'm usually pissed when i'm round there so my memory isn't reliable.....!

nah, I recognised the photo from 'Pictures of Walls' book. I didn't realise it was by banksy (i thought that book was just compiled by him, but assumed it didn't include him). The name/number is clear in the book and I checked it on google and multimap. hey presto! ;D

I was so gobsmacked I couldn't do anything. It turns out she lives in that street and her recording studio i next door to the cafe.
About a year later i came out of a cafe in Brighton and found myself next to patti smith again..she was reading the menu in the window of and indian resteraunt with a friend. (she was doing a gig in the Brighton Dome)
This time i was determined to talk to her "not as good as the 12 chairs in Greenwich village" I quiped. She turned around looking surprised...and suddenly i felt like a bit of a stalker. We had a brief chat she told me the cafe had now bought her reccording studio - should now be called the 24 chairs she joked.
I had been a big fan for years..but couldn't think of a thing to say so I Shook her hand and off she went..leaving me to think of all the things I should have said.
..very small hands...and quite a pronounced moustache... (sigh!)

I have seen other stuff up there before which is definately not legit, strange stenciled line shapes... but I always thought it was Eine.... Maybe its him.
