Shoreditch...The big clean up!!, by HowAboutNo on Aug 3, 2006 19:38:02 GMT 1, The council seem to be going a bit mad on a clean up of Shoreditch
On Monday all the BT junction boxes, which are usually covered in all manner of stencils/stickers etc had been buffed. Tuesday they started doing the walls and removed some minor pieces. Wednesday, all quiet. Then this morning they started to buff all the pavements.
Hope they are sensible enough to leave ALL of the Banksys where they are.
Surely they realise that they only attract MORE people to the area - otherwise why remove the Tottenham court road piece of sheet metal and weld a new piece in its place?? Wonder where it has ended up?!?

Shoreditch...The big clean up!!, by HowAboutNo on Aug 4, 2006 19:00:12 GMT 1, Photogrpahic evidence ! Grafitti Alley (My own phrase!) between St John Street and Shoreditch High Street is no more...
Nice and (sort of almost) clean and all ready for another assault this weekend, excellent! Will report back on Monday. ;D
Loads of the good Faile pieces gone from Paul Street. Even looks like the film reel will be getting a clean up too.

Shoreditch...The big clean up!!, by pastiepie on Feb 1, 2007 2:20:07 GMT 1, Original Banksy works are being sold for thousands of pounds yet the council still decide's to completely ruin what is to some people the biggest tourist attraction of the area. I can't see how anyone can think a giant poo brown square of paint is better looking than a nice happy choppers.
I think it's time he started experimenting by stencilling in highly caustic acid that eats away at the walls. Try painting over that!

Yeah, its been like that for a while. I did think it may have been in anticipation for Banksy to come and do a new piece but sadly not Will defo be a spot he hits .....as and when he pulls his painting finger out again. Am sure it will be worth the wait though ;D
