Banksy - "Last Graffiti Before Motorway", by nipper on Mar 1, 2009 23:40:33 GMT 1, Literally two minutes from our house so just popped down and took some late night pics.
Wonderful.
If someone can tell me how to post photos using a Mac, I'd be happy to do so.
I must say, the feet ain't good...so no question on provenance!

Banksy - "Last Graffiti Before Motorway", by Zippy on Mar 2, 2009 10:49:56 GMT 1, Me & my family were on are way to pets at home just off the A406, we stopped at the traffic lights (junc A406 with A1), my wife saw a man right next to our car taking pictures, she said to me whats that man taking pictures of? and looked back to see the piece pictured above. She said to me that looks like a Banksy as she said that the man looked into the car directly at her approx 2ft away took a couple more pictures of the graffiti, the lights changed and we drove off wondering was the man we saw BANKSY??
Err.... sorry love, it was me!

Is it a real Banksy?
By Kevin Bradford | Times (Hendon) 3rd March 2009
Rogue urban artist Banksy may have struck again after a picture in his style was spotted in Hendon.
The image, which depicts a boy marking the wall of a power station with the words “Last Graffiti Before Motorway”, can be seen at the A1 junction with the A406 North Circular Road.
Members of the Banksy Forum website, which follows the artist’s work, have expressed their excitement about the new piece and have already claimed it is an original.
One member, who calls himself zippy, said on Saturday: “I am buzzing, just come home and on way back saw a new stencilled piece. I just know its [sic] Banksy.
“I am grabbing my camera and going back out. The positioning of it is better than any I have seen.
“In my years of loving Banksy I have never stumbled across a piece, and to have one so near I feel honoured.”
He added: “It’s on a brick wall so hopefully won’t be stolen before I get back out.”
Pest Control, which is the handling service acting on behalf of Banksy, is looking into whether it is an original.
A spokeswoman said: “We answer enquiries and determine whether he was responsible for making a certain piece of artwork and issue paperwork if this is the case.
“Pest Control deals only with legitimate works of art and has no involvement with any kind of illegal activity.”
Simon Todd, from the online action site artnet.com, said the painting can only be valued once it has been formally identified.
“In terms of valuing things like this, it is very difficult,” he added.
“It can be quite arbitrary what they will say is a Banksy and if they say it isn’t original then it isn’t worth anything.
“If it is a Banksy though, it could be worth as much as the previous artworks, which have sold for hundreds of thousands.”
Mr Todd said everyone who sees the graffiti work in their area will react differently.
“I think it would be a shame if the council come to paint over it,” he added.
“It depends on people’s reaction. There are always horrible oiky kids who will squirt a bit of paint on a wall, but it will be interesting to see what people think of a real bit of art.”

Damn. That's about 5 minutes from my flat! I didn't realise it was there, I assumed it would be at the Brent Cross junction, where the M1 actually starts.

With rose tinted spectacles we all remember his past work as ironic genius. In reality, the beauty of a lot of mr B's work is because it was light hearted and clever as well. I think this is great, and anyone that says otherwise is forgetting the spirit of FUN. Its important to have a laugh and not take yourself too seriously.
Yours sincerely,
Mike Hunt

Banksy - "Last Graffiti Before Motorway", by seajay on Mar 4, 2009 1:23:37 GMT 1, So it doesn't look like spam, I'll not put a link here. I was reading this thread not long after Zippy put the photo up. I immediately got an article published about it. There is a direct link in that article to this thread and I gave Zippy a mention too. You can find the article link in the Forum under banksy News.

Banksy - "Last Graffiti Before Motorway", by JJN on Oct 19, 2017 5:09:24 GMT 1, Wow, this thread is everything being Banksy Fan was about!
Before it, all became about the money, trading pieces & knowing every tiny obscure detail
Takes me way-way back to 2002 when I discovered his work walking around London and the most fortuitous moment of stumbling across TomTom Gallery and picking up a few signed posters {not lithographs back then :-)} and this LIITA which didn't Sell at Turf War.
So great to take this trip down memory lane, thank you.
