With further research, I discovered a 14 October 2020 sale at Tate Ward for ยฃ8,750*:

As Superintendent Hastings would say, โJesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey!โ
But on the plus side, I suppose this does serve to emphasise points previously made:
If you choose to buy Banksy ephemera (posters, postcards, stickers, Di-Faced Tenners, or other items that don't come with a Pest Control Office COA), then you seriously better know your stuff. Because fakes are everywhere.
To my fellow members who have eyes in their heads, and haven't been blinded by self-deception โ Does anyone believe that sticker on the CD case looks authentic?
If only for seven or eight seconds, consider the following:
(i) odd brown colour;
(ii) incorrect layout (spacing between the text and borders of the sticker);
(iii) incorrect kerning (spacing between some of the individual letters); and
(iv) corners of the sticker that look like they've been cut by hand with a pair of scissors.
Compare and contrast (genuine sticker on the bottom):

This is sad, not because the legendary street/artists ( and others ) have lost a lot of value ( itโs not only for money, we call it respect too ) , when books, magazines, goodies, tats, , cd and posters are still maintaining a correct price and moreโฆ In comparison
I am wondering per example for how much we could get a clockwork Britain by Pins now ?
Why to care then about Camo prints or the next big things and buy them at big prices ?
Why to still buy prints when our walls are full ?
Who made the street-art/graffiti market dead ? Big trusts auction houses. reputed galleries, speculators, Japanese, etc ..,
( in France we have had and we have still ( when itโs over, itโs over ) this problem with Bande Dessinรฉe (bd) , illustrations and comics books market. I collected a lot then by Tyโs past ( big prices ) and one day a small ( maybe a dozen or less - Album per example, kinds of Heni of the BD - and followers) but powerful collective โ of big merchants ( from Belgium and Paris mostly) , brands, bookstores, sellers, - they edited then a big book, le BDM, kind of bible for collectors - to break some of the most creative artists of these 30/40 last years ( I had comics whose value were 2 k : now only 200 โฌ) , to still promote the old and first classic market of Hergรฉ per example, or the new last drawers - to make them sell a moment.
Capitalism we could call that ! And speculation again .. in fact capitalism poisoned all the world, cultural and/or smart.

Well you are right though Lroy. 7000 is a lot of money and it wouldnโt surprise me if itโs not going to be sold for it. And what does provenance by Tate Ward in this say anyway ๐ค

There are many many other things to cross check when you want to be extra sure it's not a fake, especially on the DVD itself... but that requires a bit of digging on Forums (even here in the good old days) to do your homework... pretty easy and fun to complete if you're into these kind of quests... |

Plenty of other ways to be assured it's legit but you have to put a bit of extra work into it. As for how (bullet proof) "legit" some of the (Banksy) items (posters, etc...) have been in the past with Laz, you'd be surprised by some of the (horrible) stories I've heard ! ;-) |
