Banksy Radar Rat • Dirty Funker 12", by rbrt on Mar 19, 2018 23:23:12 GMT 1, I work in the music industry and I have been buying records every week for many years. I am certain the Dirty Funker, DJ DM and The Banksy Years are all bootlegs / unofficial. Done well by all accounts but from the timings of the releases (2008), these were not released at a time when Banksy was giving permission for older artwork to be used on records.
The official Banksy images / artwork used on covers of music releases with permission by Banksy are usually original images specific for the releases or relatively current to the time of releases. They are always credited properly too. I know official releases include Blur, Wall Of Sound label, Hombre label, Talib Kweli, Benjamin Zephaniah (Naked album has Banksy images inside on CD booklet) & Monk & Cantella. I know Hot 8 Brass Band for 'The Life & Times Of' got permission from Banksy to use the New Orleans images from photos on inside of CD booklet only).

I would argue that the dangermouse releases are done with permission - they collaborated in 2006 with the Paris Hilton CD stunt and these came out in 2008.
*I stand corrected these are not by Dangermouse so hence not an official Banksy collab either.

Banksy Radar Rat • Dirty Funker 12", by Reader on Mar 20, 2018 9:36:29 GMT 1, I thought the royksopp record was screenprinted? Handsprayed edition of 100 and thought to be the only release he hand sprayed himself. A couple of others on WoS. Dirty Funker is a commercially produced cover and product with no relationship to Banksy at all. Worth a tenner.

Banksy Radar Rat • Dirty Funker 12", by rbrt on Mar 20, 2018 11:11:16 GMT 1, Banksy acknowledged the Dangerous / Paris Hilton release was officially by him.
The release in 2008 is credited as DJ DM. In 2006 Dangermouse had already collaborated with Banksy on a project with unique Banksy artwork and unique music and had a worldwide hit with Crazy / Gnarls Barkley. My opinion is that it is really unlikely two years later Dangerous is putting out music like this release and using an old Banksy image for it and not crediting himself or Banksy fully on the release.
From everything Banksy has officially had his art used for on record labels, there has never been a minimal cover with just Banksy artwork and/or a Banksy logo that has 1000+ pressings. In 2008 Banksy was getting even bigger so it is very unlikely he would have agreed to this. This release is basically using Banksy's "brand" to sell a record which is something Banksy has never let happen and unlikely Dangermouse needs to happen, as he is a big producer in the music industry at this point.
This release is by someone who has figured out there is demand in using Banksy artwork to sell vinyl and it has worked for them but it is unlikely Banksy or Dangermouse have authorised this in any way.
It is not a release being sold on merit of the music and is not an official Banksy approved release so although selling for quite a bit of money now it is no different to the West Country Prince prints. Unofficial copies of Banksy artworks.
With all the official use of Banksy artwork for record labels there is clear information to prove that Banksy agreed to let his artwork be used. Benjamin Zephaniah credits Banksy properly, the Hot 8 Brass Band has sleeve notes explaining how Banksy gave permission to use his artwork. Wall Of Sound / Hombre / Blur / Talib Kweli are 100% too.
Any release with people speculating about whether Banksy approved or not, has speculation because ultimately there is no proof that Banksy agreed to let them happen. With a bit of research you can find proof direct from the musicians or record labels that the release was official and approved for every record label release which Banksy has given permission for his artwork to be used
For Dirty Funker, DJ DM, The Banksy Years I have never seen any solid information to show that Banksy was officially involved in these releases. Lots or rumours and guess work but no interviews with the people who made the music or record labels in the music press or music blogs saying 100% they got permission from Banksy to use his artwork.

Banksy Radar Rat • Dirty Funker 12", by Prescription Art on Mar 20, 2018 13:37:00 GMT 1, "DJ DM" is nothing to do with Danger Mouse... it's seemingly just a name chosen to give that impression. The record is total shite! But the sleeves do look nice to be fair.
The Dirty Funker, Banksy Years, Happy Choppers Sleeve, Queen Vic Sleeve, and white LIITA Sleeved records (not to be confused with the 'official' 'We Love You So Love Us' sleeves) are all 100% bootlegs.

They were two years ago Think the prices listed at now they seem to stay unsold for ever . Free listings come up every so often on the bay , try your luck when they come up , 99p no reserve auction

But they are all super rare and Banksy official 😁. The super rare bit adds £1000's to the price.

These were about 6£ a pop and that’s about what they are worth !
I bought the brown on here for 25£ I think to complete my set and remember thinking that was way too much
I wonder though, is it better to buy fake copies of official posters (save and delete, Monkey Parliament) or real copies of unofficial LPs 😅

Banksy Radar Rat • Dirty Funker 12", by madrat on Sept 17, 2018 18:42:41 GMT 1, Looking for best offers around the 250 GBP range on the attached red on grey Radar Rat 'Future' by Dirty Funker 12" record sleeve and unplayed vinyl record.
There is a small 3 inch tear to the middle bottom edge of the sleeve where the record has come through the card - this will not be visible if framed and I have tried to capture this in the 3rd image. There is also the faintest of creases where the record has indented the sleeve....this is so minor I couldn't really get it to show up in the images.
I'm UK based and would prefer to do a face to face deal (ideally anywhere between Junctions 1 and 4 of the M40 or Junctions 13 and 16 of the M25).
I am after 250 GBP or best offer - if it's a non face to face deal the purchaser will need to pay shipping / Paypal Fees in addition.
All reasonable offers considered....pls fire me over a PM!
Cheers

No idea what these are actually selling for at the moment but there certainly seem to be some ambitious asking prices out there.....just been onto Ebay and accordingly to one seller the red on grey is 'the rarest of the rare'......so that must be why they are asking £1,049.99!!!
I'm not after anywhere near that amount but I am motivated to get a deal done by the end of this coming weekend so the best offer in my PM box by then gets it!
Cheers

Banksy Radar Rat • Dirty Funker 12", by quinn on Sept 17, 2018 21:07:16 GMT 1, appologies to the op but do you know what the pink on white last sold for? You people are seriously discussing which fake Banksy is rarer than another fake Banksy? Humanity is truly lost. we sure are...And as far as I can tell your part of this conversation. So by default your discussing it too.

Jesus fücking Christmas, I’m not ‘part’ of your discussion, I’m questioning it. DIRTY FUNKER RECORDS ARE FAKES. And before anyone yet again says “that’s just your opinion” it’s not, it’s fact as stated by Pest Control. You lot are perpetuating the falsehood with your ‘discussion’. I never thought I’d say this, but anyone wanting to buy a fake Radar Rat image, West Cunting Prince sells hand-pulled screenprints of them for £55. i happen to agree with you and don’t believe them to be endorsed at all. offical unofficial who gives a fuck. It’s part of and time and place and people collect them whether there fake or not, So see no harm at all in discussing it.
