Brooklyn Banksy Buffed! FUCK!!, by Ågent ßacardi on Jan 16, 2007 6:23:24 GMT 1, They left the rope/cable... but it doesn't mean anything without the kids! Argh that sucks - was hoping to see it in real life!
They buffed a Banksy here in LA too, one with a rat (as in the Love Rat image) painting 'Yuk' and an arrow pointing to a billboard full of ads.
I don't get the buffing sometimes, especially when it seems totally pointless. The 'Yuk' rat for example, it wasn't buffed because the owner of the building needed that space to do something else (it's just been left empty).... it wasn't because the owner wanted to clean the building exterior up (other than the buff spot, the rest of the building remains filthy). So what for?? Just because it's graffiti and graffiti just needs to be reflexively removed? Furthermore, it's not exactly in an area where graffiti would seem out of place... it's on Melrose Avenue, where nearly 100% of traffic signs are plastered with tags and stickers, where the sidewalks are full of stencil work, and where the entire place just screams 'street culture'. They buff one tiny spot on one wall, leaving everything else. What the hell is the point?!? 
But I guess we can take a bit (just a *wee* bit) of comfort in the fact that it was buffed and not ripped out and put on eBay

Isn't that what makes graf so interesting as an at art form? Just as one piece is removed - someone uses the space. Nothing is precious, because someone else owns the space which the artist has used as their canvas.

No, not me on the bike -- just took that picture from flickr.com -- Im sad to say that of all the times I ventured over to see this piece I never once took my own photograph of it ... and now its gone 
in any event, if you want to take a wander down to see faile's pieces its on N.6th st btw. Kent and Wythe avenue's just up from Galapogos. Its a great area for some quality streetart Borf and Faile have a few huge pieces around there and elbowtoe recently bombed the area as well. I will post photos later.

Went for dinner on N6th between berry & wythe a few weeks back (argentinian place called sweetw ater (no space-keeps censoring it lol) btw- check it out- insanely good food!)
