Here is a photo and the auction listing of the "Precision Bombing" sold at Bonhams for ยฃ40k on the 28 Jan 2015 that Black Apple is referring to, it was a smaller version half the size and with condition issues, and rather different from the edition canvases that it was a canvas laid on board with an image on the back of the board. Which made me think it was an early test spray. I took a look at it and the condition issues were too much. It appeared very grubby and a little dog eared. Never the less I agree with Black Apple it was a bargain for the buyer to get hold of an original iconic image that appeared on the streets early on in Banksy's career for only ยฃ40k.
Best explanation of this image I heard was:
An early canvas, dating back to 2000, 'Precision Bombing' presents the viewer with the image of a group of silhouettes and a sports car which is being targeted by a green precision gun pointer. Commenting on war, violence and the state of terror, Banksy illustrates the ever-present treachery which dominates the 21st century.
The edition canvas version is one of ten according to the PC paperwork on the series, although, Brandler Galleries will tell you only 6 were ever made. I'm not sure we will know how many were really made in many of the edition series canvases. The line in the middle varied throughout the series and some of the gun sites lined up more symmetrically with the middle line than others, they look great mounted on black like Andipa framed one several years ago.

Makes more sense but as you said.. still a deal. I have also found several instances where a B editioned original was originally labeled out of say 10 or 25 but after possession of it, was told by PC that only a fraction of them were ever made and or registered.

Black Apple, I think your correct that only a fraction of the editions were completed, and have also been told that in round about terms by PC as well, so definitely possible only 6 were made of the Precision Bombing canvas in the stated edition size of 10 and the same with the other edition canvases which are often editions of 25. PC said that there wasn't any proper record keeping done back then and there is no way to actually know how many were made in each series. So that being said unfortunately when buying, one has to assume that there were the amount made in the edition size, its awkward for a seller who probably thinks there are less but the Pest Control COA states for an example its from a series of 25 then one has to go with that number. Even though its likely that there aren't nearly that many.
I look at it as there could be 25 canvases out there if thats the edition size stated, or whatever the edition size stated is I would go with that when buying or selling. Its difficult to convince a buyer that less are made due to the COA. Is it also possible Banksy reserves the right to complete the series at a later date? A highly unlikely scenario as he doesn't appear to be the kind of artist to go backwards.
