You were there once, you saw it, you snapped a picture of it, and now it's gone forever (except for the print of it on your wall). These images aren't timeless, they speak of the times.
And maybe this will encourage Banksy (and others) to go out there and put up some new stuff. Out with the old...

Having said that, it's still Bo*****s to see them spoilt. Especially by some doughnut scribbling their un-descipherable name all over it......
Also Camden Counil will now probably use the state the wall's in to justify painting over the whole thing.

It isn't as if the marks left on this piece are even worth looking at... nothing more than mindless scribble. What a lame ass way to get your shit tag noticed, putting it over something as classic as the Banksy Maid.
This is the reason true street art comes under fire, because it is inevitably lumped in with scribble and obscenity.

I think it's a shame that they are going as I think they work to build the foundation and history of what will no doubt be one of the breakthrough artist of this century.
I can see it now, a futuristic timeteam carefully peeling off layers of ink with some new fancy gadget and uncovering original Banksy images.
Puts the Banksy 'tour book' out of whack also.

Boy, have they accumulated over the years. Her face wasn't blackened out three weeks ago - as I recall - so that's a relatively new bit of terrorism.
