Fairey Vs Banksy, by uksnowman on Oct 7, 2007 14:33:20 GMT 1, cracking picks fpr. Fairey has some serious talent, but I've not been too taken by his prints (although I haven't seen too many).
Does anyone have any of his framed work they can share or link to?

Fairey Vs Banksy, by meatbag on Oct 7, 2007 14:49:50 GMT 1, Fairey's murals are stunning but his individual prints/og's are just too repetitive for my likes. I've love to see him venture outside his norm.

Fairey Vs Banksy, by bobbymeachamjr on Oct 7, 2007 16:19:03 GMT 1, Is it just me or is obeys street work just too "clean" - they almost look out of place in the dirty street setting. Check out the bomb girl. To me creating something on a computer and then distressing it doesnt make it "street". No rawness...

Fairey Vs Banksy, by endtimes on Oct 7, 2007 18:12:56 GMT 1, I've always liked Banksy better because Fairey's 'prints' have been way too graphic to me and a little heavy handed with the politics. I love Banksy because of the humour and cynicism found in his work. But I have to say after looking at the photos posted above, I think Fairey's work looks way more at home on the streets. The first one "peace" especially is great and great placement, the mural from spring street is also truly impressive. But for some reason I just have no desire to have his prints hanging on my wallโwhile I do enjoy Banksy on my wall. ...not sure what to think now but based just on the pics I'm voting for Fairey, which surprises me...

Fairey Vs Banksy, by wlsp4657 on Oct 7, 2007 22:07:55 GMT 1, So the question is Who has improved the streets best?
I choose Shep because of the magnitude of his campaign. Banky's work may be more appealing and each individual piece may be more interesting but Shep has been all over the world and has crushed every place he has been. It was a close call but I have to go with Shep as a testament to his devotion to hitting the streets hard for as long as he has.

Fairey Vs Banksy, by ptron on Oct 8, 2007 5:59:27 GMT 1, Having been born in LA and lived here my entire life you'd think I'd be a huge Shep fan, but it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe some Shep fans can enlighten me, but I see a lot of exploitation of his subjects, and really have trouble with selling T-shirts for the revolution in Nordstroms.

Fairey Vs Banksy, by doughy on Oct 8, 2007 7:48:20 GMT 1, IF you take it that their own styles are quite different, and you will like/dislike them for quite different reasons, then personally not a close comparison is to be made. Both are talented as how they convey their messages across.
Score Draw.
