Faile FairQ feedback needed, by numusic on Nov 21, 2007 9:51:49 GMT 1, I think it's too easy for professionnal flippers to create a lot of FairQ accounts with theirs families and friends informations !
me too... I think a total of 5 or so pieces out of 29 were won by either Faile, Banksy or Wall Kandy fourm members..well, those that have posted at least. Usually members would have had a much greater chance of securing these...I understand that they want to give the widest opportunity for people to own their work.. but if it's not us.. then who ? I guess we'll have to wait and see what % hit the bay next month. I'm a massive Faile fan, and I didn't sign up out of principle..I'm sure many others didn't too.

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by Vsix on Nov 21, 2007 10:32:41 GMT 1, I just hope the fairq organisers/employees and their families are disallowed from joining a queue.
It would be also be beneficial to get a list of the winners locations, so we can see how random this process is and the total number in the queue.
Also when is the encrypted security going to be enabled?

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by pezlow on Nov 21, 2007 10:38:43 GMT 1, To my mind the security issue is the main problem. Despite this being raised on both Wall candy and on here fairq have never come back with anything that reassures me that their site is secure. Although they have told us the secure server is up and running people are still getting warning messages on their computers that the login is not secure and there is no padlock on the bottom of the screen.

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by rhodesy2112 on Nov 21, 2007 10:40:45 GMT 1, I can't see why people have such a big problem with the FairQ system. Flippers will have had multiple ID's for the POW system just as they will have had for this one. As for more prints going to forum members, I think that once you allow for the size of the run, the percentage of forum members with faile prints will be higher than those with Trolleys. There simply is no way to create a level playing field. As long as prints have a higher secondary market value, there will be those who find a way to get hold of extras to flip. At least the FairQ system makes it fairer for those of us who have proper jobs and aren't able to sit on our fat lazy arses in front of a computer all day, every day....furiously F5ing like a hormonally over charged teenager.

How would multiple ID's have helped anyone getting signed trollies? Hard enough getting an unsigned !

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by gbh on Nov 21, 2007 10:49:32 GMT 1, there are two issues here..
1. the "padlock" - this means they simply have not got or installed an SSL cert. This cert when used over https will encrypt the traffic between you and them. Basically, not allowing anyone in the middle to "sniff" information flowing. Of course, this is preferred but it is not the end of the world IMHO as if someone is listening on your connection (or theirs) you will have bigger things to worry about.
2. The actual server security in regards to the data storage, how the info is stored, etc., etc. This is what would be more concerning to me. We know not much beyond this:
4. Protection of Your Information. FairQ will not sell or rent Your Information to any third party for marketing purposes, nor send unsolicited communications for marketing purposes. FairQ will store Your Information in a secure operating environment that is not available for public access, however, FairQ cannot guarantee complete security. Only FairQ employees, consultants or agents with a need to know in order to perform services on behalf of FairQ will have access to Your Information.

True, but I doubt they have several pcs running to allow them to buy several at the same time, with Fu-Q they only needed one PC and had a week to concoct and create as many Ids as they wanted..... As you said it'll never be an even playing field, and noty everyone is ever going to be 100% happy. Still of the opinion that the laughter lottery wasn't the way to go.

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by Copyright on Nov 21, 2007 11:04:49 GMT 1, The whole que process was confusing and put me off going for anything just cos i didnt understand it. Also I did your lovely survey to get to the secret que only to be told. 'Sorry, that's not the right code. Please try again' good scam for getting people to fill out an anoying survey, a false lure. Makes me trust the que thingy even less Quite a few people have successfully registered for the secret Q. Just doublechecked the code and URL and seems to work fine. Please try again.
very funny, you wont fool me twice

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by rhodesy2112 on Nov 21, 2007 11:10:20 GMT 1, You don't think flippers will have had more than one computer on the go for every Banksy release!!!!.....Really?? Even if it was in the form of getting friends and family to be there for the release it amounts to the same thing. Multiple computers, multiple ID's, multiple prints for individuals to flip. At least with the FairQ system, everyone has an equal opportunity to improve their chances of securing an item.

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by buster on Nov 21, 2007 11:25:25 GMT 1, Feel the proof is in the pudding, look at how many forum members won the option to buy a print compared to a similar sized F5 option ( such as outer edge david choe release). One release gave the flippers et al a week to set up dubious systems, the other +/- 1 minute to buy a print. Both systems had winners and losers, but alot more winners seen with the outer edge system ( I'll add that I got mothing from either but still prefer the buying rather than winning option). Also good to remember it wasnt a system set up to make things more fair for the faile fans, it was to stop their site and pay system going tits up with paypal refunds again.

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by insite on Nov 21, 2007 11:38:57 GMT 1, I think this is just going to start a new type of behaviour a bit like flipping. Had I entered I would have gone for all the pieces if I wanted them or not with the thought that others would do the same and that we could then trade for pieces we really wanted. It's not flipping as we know it but would be similar and puts you in a situation where you are potentially buying art you don't like with the sole intention of off loading it as soon as possible. I don't like this system, prefer the thrill of the chase ;D.

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by dmandpenfold on Nov 21, 2007 11:43:42 GMT 1, FairQ suffered from the same thing as all the other releases, for example prior to a release we always see a heap of new members on the forums, FairQ would have as many have suggested a heap of chancers joining the Q's whether they are into Faile or not or even care about art at all.
The biggest problem being that you have a week to concoct as many ID's as you feel necessary, veritable heaven for flipping....the worth of this system will, as Nu points out, be seen when the prints are sent out and the sales start on ebay (or not).
I for one dont like it. The security issue aside how do we know the system cant be abused, how do we know that people related to or friends of FairQ aren't the real winners, the system needs to be a little more open to gain trust.
f5'ing at least gives you an opportunity and as has been seen in the past many more members (and people who more likely have an interest in the work) have picked up prints this way. This time round too few won, where then did they all go, the odds in reality should be about the same, yet clearly they weren't.

Faile FairQ feedback needed, by pkt75 on Nov 21, 2007 11:49:35 GMT 1, Im sure that with the fairQ system, there will also be quite alot of entries by people that dont intend to buy what they have entered the lottery for, they just enter for the hell of it or just to see if they would win one, thus creating a lesser chance for the entries that intend to buy. I stick by my thoughts, GET RID!!!

No disrespect to FairQ, but lets face it, they're a business with very little if anything to do with art, and no matter what we say they will keep the fairQ system in place. They're hardly likely to advise their clients, Faile etc to drop it because the majority think it's a shiot way to buy art. Initially set up for prints maybe, but would work equalliy as well for wii or whatever toy is the must have this year... nice idea.. wrong market IMO.

When you say 'Thanks to all that give constructive feedback' I guess you mean all those that didnt verbally Rip your system to shreads. Dispite wether you wanted to hear some of comments, IMO they were constructive. We are your target market when it comes to selling Art via FairQ and the most constructive thing I can say to FairQ close down. I cant see this working. I'll be suprised and will happily eat my words if it does.
