My New Blek, by insite on Mar 8, 2008 14:34:59 GMT 1, O.K. this should probably go in the BRP Print Show thread but it's got a little story to go with it and those of you that know me a bit know I love a story .

So this was my purchase at the show, a Blek Le Rat, rats monoprint, edition of 20, 2 colour screenprint each one unique.


I bought it framed and was happy to do so as now it's going straight up on the wall no hanging around under the bed for this one. Really nice frame job too, deep gallery style frame, float mount on white backboard which really brings out the creamy colour of the print (unlike my photography) plus an extravagant flourish on his sig, love it


But my favourite bit of this print is the rat on the far left, what I love about this is how there's alittle bit of the black on the deckled edge which is just hanging on in there by a few fibres. To me it makes it look almost like a paste up that's been ripped off a wall (not that I approve of that sort of thing of course ) to me it really adds to the street aesthetic of this piece.



So I've been having a few chats with people about these pieces, tried in my little way to help out a couple of members who were after getting one of their own so I've been making myself aware of these when they've popped up for sale over the past few weeks. So on Thursday I get to thinking hang on a few of these have been sold from gallerys now and they must have been delivered so where's mine ? The shows finished so it's not up on a wall being admired by the jealous hoards any more . So I phoned BRP to enquire and Sarah Morgan answers (you know the famous one off the CNN telly report ), before I can get going on my questions Sarah's saying you're phoning from Leominster aren't you ? err yes why ? wow that's amazing my best mate lives there, no, yes I grew up round there, no. If you don't know (and why should you) Leominster it's a sleepy market town on the Welsh border where nothing "street" ever happens so the fact that I live there and collect comes as quite a surprise. So we chatting about art and carrot crunching and I mention my Blek, oh no we can't post it because of the glass but hold on are you around this weekend, err yes why ?, oh I'm coming up to see my mate for the weekend if you like I can bring the Blek. So about an hour ago my beautiful new Blek got delivered to my door by Sarah, now that's what you call superlative delivery, I know the BRP tubes are legendary but sorry all I think I just went one better ;D
