LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by gironawatch on Mar 12, 2008 8:21:44 GMT 1, I WAS IN THE BEJOIR SHOW A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I BOUGHT ONE OF HIS AMAZING PRINTS AND I WAS SUPPOSED TO RECEIVED AROUND THIS TIME. HOWEVER, LAST WEEK, A LADY CALLED ME FROM THE GALLERY AND SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE CANNOT GIVE ME THE PRIINT I ALREADY PAID FOR AND HAVE THE RECEIPT FOR. I ASKED FOR THE REASON AND SHE EXPLAINED ME THAT THE PRINT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO SELL, EVEN THOUGH I WAS THE FRIST ONE TO BUY IT, SHE OFFERED ME A REFUND OF THE MONEY AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THEY CAN DO THIS AS I FELL THIS IS A BREECH OF MY CONSUMER RIGHTS AND AS I HAD PAID FOR THE ITEM AND ALSO HAD THE RECEIPT.
HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE? ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THIS?
THANK YOU

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by baracass on Mar 12, 2008 8:48:45 GMT 1, I think that's going a bit far Francis. Their prints are reasonably priced. They don't all sell out in a second. They exhibit plenty of great artists and put on good shows. In short, good for the scene. Not sure where you're coming from with that comment.
I'm certainly not an expert in the field and not 100% but I thought that a transaction isn't complete until you have received the goods. Unfortunately mistakes happen.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by pezlow on Mar 12, 2008 9:01:28 GMT 1, I heard the leonard street accidentally oversold some of the beejoir stuff on the night. This doesn't give Francis carte blanche to start slagging them off, especially in ways which are so untrue.
No court could compel TLSG to sell you something they haven't got. The best that you could get would be a refund which they already offered you. I appreciate this is disappointing but as anonymous plum says mistakes happen.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by Winter on Mar 12, 2008 9:03:59 GMT 1, I got a call from them saying the print I had bought had been sold to someone else and they would refund me. My friend also got the same call. Apparently 2 of their sales people were walking around selling the same work. Why are so many Preview nights so disorganised? Most of the time galleries are very quiet - as soon as a load of people walk in they crumble. As Roy Keane said "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail"

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by wimpy on Mar 12, 2008 9:06:58 GMT 1, You are going about this all wrong, buddy.
If they won't give you what you paid for, then ask them what special item that they have or will have soon that they WILL give you.
The last thing you should do is go spouting off on a public forum in all caps.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by guest2 on Mar 12, 2008 9:24:19 GMT 1, yes I heard they oversold so it's not that they are not allowing you this print it's more a case of - there just isn't any to sell you, no more anywhere in the world as it's a limited edition print.
Best thing to do is to call, keep calm, state your disapointment and see if there are any AP's
Or maybe they can make it up to you some other how. But agreed, over selling is not good. Best to keep at least 5% back to allow for mistakes.
Oh, I was nothing to do with this show for the record

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by Coach on Mar 12, 2008 9:48:21 GMT 1, really sorry for your dissapointment. i too would be gutted. best idea so far seems to be Frankie's, imo. as for the criticisms of tlsg, i must say that all dealings i have had with them have been first rate. the staff have been great to deal with. they put on some amazing shows, and this scene would be much poorer without them. btw, i said i didnt want the print, so went in ealier than those still queing for it, seemed a good idea to me - why make me wait while people paid for their print. and no, i didnt then go and buy the print!!

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by noodles1 on Mar 12, 2008 9:49:25 GMT 1, Money taken and a recipet given is actually seen as a contract between buyer and seller by law. They obviously cannot give you the print you want but you are intitled to something of similar value and possible a little compensation. They have broken their contract with you and they need to satisfy you with outcome. DONT jus take full refund, take the piss out of them also. Im sure they have something gathering dust out back that you would really like. They know this also!!! as should POW. Yes they cant give you wot they haven't got but if they take more money knowing their stock volume of a particular item, they breach contract. See wot you can get!!!!

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by Imoy-San on Mar 12, 2008 10:00:01 GMT 1, I am sure this has been covered by other people who have responded to the initial outburst.
My dealings with TLSG have been nothing short of perfect. There are many on this forum who will vouch for their professional approach, and in some cases understanding of the madness associated with chasing limited edition prints.
If you're after one of the "Believing..." prints, ping Beejoir himself, mention what has happened and I am sure he may be able to help.
TLSG will probably offer you something in return for the disappointment.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by onemandown72 on Mar 12, 2008 10:49:29 GMT 1, I'm horrified by this attitude from you noodles - "take the piss out of them". On what grounds? They take the time and effort to put on decent Beejoir show, that becomes a victim of it's own success. The prints sold so quickly due to the price, and also the current speculation surrounding artists. Whilst I absolutely feel for gironawatch being let down, it was an honest mistake and not something that the gallery did deliberately. why this then has seen any abuse directed at the gallery is beyond me. They are always helpful, go out of their way to keep prices down and affordable, as was specifically the case with Beejoir, and have done a lot to promote the new wave of Urban artists that have come to the fore. What is needed here is helpful suggestions to help the problem, not carte blanche to criticise a hard working and well run gallery. Almost a typical English response to a problem in look at laying blame rather than resolving this.

tell off noodle with one hand and alienate the whole of england with the other nice.
maybe a compromise is needed? ask for the refund, plead for compassion, do it nicely is the key.
but this thread also seems to be a love / hate tlsg thing.
the queue was terrible (letting people in who then bought the print was rubbish and then there were only approx 30 actually for sale as a lot had been sold before the show started). this is not said to 'slag them off' but maybe they read this and can learn form their mistakes?

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by dotdot on Mar 12, 2008 12:21:57 GMT 1, if my memory serves me right - tlsg gallery have an account on this very forum.
Can someone who knows them well - ask them politely to come on here and state in their perception of the situation.
I know this may be a lot to ask - but they do have a reputation to preserve. Right of reply is useful i often find.
i didn't make the thur - went down on sat to find it closed - i was grumpy but now perhaps not so much so.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by tenhairytoes on Mar 12, 2008 16:08:10 GMT 1, Mistakes happen noodle, acting like a cunt won't get you anywhere, well it will it will get you in the fuck off and don't come back line.
As for being so distraught its only a piece of paper that you have missed out on its not the end of the world. I'd love to call TLSG a bunch of profiteering tossers but lets have a think about this shall we.....
5 full time staff on a min of 20k each Rent for a flashy gallery. ยฃ? Elec/water/business rates/licenses Artists % Cost of flying artists over and putting them up, s**t ain't free mate.
They don't sit it their arm chairs making a quick few quid on ebay like most of the moaners on here, they give artists a platform and the resources they need to work.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by buffin on Mar 12, 2008 19:27:23 GMT 1, Just wanted to say that I have dealt with TLSG on several occasions and always found them to be top notch. I queued for some prints last year and they were great and even invited some early birds into the gallery when it started raining.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by bill on Mar 12, 2008 19:31:23 GMT 1, No they are not! I was offered a Beejoir Shell Blood For Oil print that they were going to release at their show. I personally talked to a gentleman at the gallery one week before the show and gave him my information over the phone. He then sent me an email confirmation via the internet the next day. Time goes by and after multiple emails from me asking them where my print was after a month or so they sent me an email saying they "oversold" the print and did not have one for me. There email was cold and simple. Not even a sorry! So with that said I truly feel like TLSG is a load of shit and I would never and I mean NEVER buy shit from them. Tell me how you can over sell a print that was sold to customers a week before the show even opened! By the way, they did the same thing to a friend of mine. On top of that it took nearly three weeks for them to refund our money and we had to email them multiple times in order to get our money back. All in all they are the worst gallery I have ever dealt with and I would never give them my business.

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by dave313perry on Mar 12, 2008 19:44:42 GMT 1, cant be arsed to read through all the thread - but a few things that have probably already been said but il reiterate...
give them a call, be reasonable because they are only human, and fiestyness and aggression will only make things difficult for yourself - suggest some kind of compensation, or maybe first refusal on something in the near future. Im sure they will be open to ideas because they arnt out to kick you in the balls, just to supply you with great artwork and make some dollar!!!
all the best sorting this out but getting stroppy will be to your detriment

LEONARD STREET GALLERY PROBLEMS WITH BEEJOIR PRINT, by alsbabar on Mar 12, 2008 21:20:25 GMT 1, hmmmm not sure, damned if you do, damned if you dont - so saying something could potentially upset them, not saying something makes you upset.
Do you intend on buying from them again? If so - like others have said, compromise, if not, then what do you care - you might get lucky, or what they will do is refund you, then ban you!!!
Let me add - I find Alexa etc all very helpful people - so compromise is my suggestion
