I disagree it would be to soon if it was a solo show but these are all group shows of small bodies of work, I think its the right move really. good luck to him.

Micallef news for those who are interested, by jam on May 20, 2008 21:25:49 GMT 1, I was happy to see the first shot of the Micallef at the Laz group show coming up... this email emphasizes the change we will see in Micallef's trajectory. AM made a conscious effort to flood the market and destroy the flipper market to clear the way for the next level of his career, and I am happy to see the prints are working their way into collectors hands to strengthen his base. Looking forward to seeing the other 4 pieces at the Laz show and what he puts on display at the Tate and RA.

Micallef news for those who are interested, by Zippy on May 20, 2008 22:03:42 GMT 1, I was privileged to see the AM original from the forthcoming show. It is one of the best pieces I have ever seen by him. I cant say 'he's back' as he never went away. Just because a few short sighted people couldnt flip his prints did not mean his artistic career was over.

Exactly. His last show was disappointing so I'm not going to kiss some butt a mere 6 months later...

He must have been inundated with emails after the laz show was made public in order for him to say not to send emails to his own site!

Not meaning to be confrontational. Just wishing that we, the masses, demand more from these artists. They have it REAL good. Its a healthy thing to do...

Disappointing isn't a fair assessment. As I understood it from multiple credible sources close to him, AM had consciously decided to keep his work very similar to what he had been doing so he could properly introduce himself to a new market. Some people were hoping to see something new and revolutionary, but that would have missed the mark for him and it wasn't an appropriate time to go out on a limb. He has a classic style, and I don't understand why people feel there needs to be a drastic change from that, rather than a steady maturing to what is already a wonderful style.

Micallef news for those who are interested, by oneeye on May 21, 2008 0:19:16 GMT 1, Let's face it. Off all the artists we talk about and collect on this forum, Micallef is without a doubt, in the top three, talent wise. The fact that the Tate and Royal Academy have given him an invite solidifies his artistic abilities. THEY know it. WE know it. Only the flipper's don't.
