Especially considering Pharell's involvement and, even more than that Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin!! I mean, come on. That's a massively fucking influential gallery! He could've really gone all out but I feel like he played it too safe....

I've stated how I fall into the same category and find it strange. It is weird for me to dislike D's work but like a similar graphic design artist Kaws....I guess I enjoy Kaws motifs more

I'm not a huge fan of Kaws or D ...but I feel like Kaws is at least more authentic.
For D I feel like it seems as though he's always chasing something. Although his new show was better than I expected and technically looked good. It also seemed like he's chasing his influences and incorporating "hot" techiniques that are more about style and less substance in his shows.
In contrast Kaws did what Kaws does — pure and simple. And he did it pretty well, although I can understand if you don't like or want massive paintings of spongebob or smurfs. Personally I don't. But since Murakami bought one of his works he's pure gold.
