look at that poptart last night. it was £400 with an hour left then finished at £1,200.

i dont get why people wait until the last minute... there is nothing tactical about it bidding more than you want at the last minute out of panic.

Judging by the amount of perverts watching these auctions ( ;D ) it will go for a good amount anyway, thats unless people are just watching each other out of interest. in which case someone will just come up and win it out of nowhere

J, theres a software you can get that lets you snipe auctions, cant remember the name of it, im sure most use it tho. i think people are looking for bargains these days, and dface is hardly flavour of the month. I would sit on this and then start another auction in 6 months. Things should of picked up by then

I think the key to it is exactly the same as any auction - have a figure in mind for what the most is that your prepared to pay. That way if you bid that amount and then you get out bid then you're out of your price range and you should just walk away.

If you put this maximum bid in early then it gives more people a chance to;
a) bid up to and over it if they genuinely want it
b) be an idiot and push your bid up with stupid bids
c) be a real idiot and bid over your bid to see what it is and then withdraw their bid - which allows everyone to know what you're bidding up to.

I have had all of the above happen to me which is why if i want an item now i'll set a reminder and go and check the auction as it is set to finish. And it works, i've recently picked up a signed banksy for below what i was prepared to pay as there was no time for anyone else to out bid me.

I'm just waiting to get the print nicely framed and then i'll post it and start a whole new thread debate and it's that gift print with coa.

true, but i remember one time trying this tactic and failed massively, by panicking and putting in far more than i wanted to pay just to win it.
