He mentioned in the old Ricky Powell interview that he had done some streetwork. I have no examples though. Not sure if he still does it either.

My picture disc finally arrived today and it is seriously stunning! - well worth the wait.

Even the wife was amazed and suggested it was framed and on the wall asap which I think is a first...

not really sure how I'd classify the music other than some kind of "electronica". Not really my cup of tea but then I didn't buy it for that.

Was extremely fortunate to get a spot for a dalek commission about a year + ago and after a long wait this finally arrived at my doorstep. I gotta say seeing his work up close is pretty mind blowing and blew away expectations.

If you ever get to see his work in person don't miss out.

Hurley hosts a solo exhibit by Southern California artist Dalek



Surf and skate brand Hurley is dedicating its SPACE gallery in Costa Mesa to artist James Marshall — known professionally as Dalek.

The artist will exhibit a single 37-foot continuous wall mural painting — a vibrantly hued work of synergistic geometric shapes dubbed "Chaos on the Edge of Reason" — that will be offered for sale by the square foot and cut out and framed on demand during the show's Aug. 4 opening night party (7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 1945 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa).

It's not the first time the SoCal-based artist has worked with Hurley. Earlier this year, he collaborated with the brand on a pair of custom board shorts, which featured another one of his kaleidoscopic, multicolored prints. Dalek, who was roomies with Hurley-sponsored skateboarder Kris Markovich in his early career, was also commissioned to create a painting for Hurley's 225 Forest concept store in Laguna Beach, which stocks Nike 6.0, Converse and Hurley.

The new mural uses a whopping 75 Pantone colors, and will be priced at $200 per square foot, available in three sizes: 2-by-2, 3-by-3 and 4-by-4. A smaller companion painting and four limited-edition 36-by-48 works on paper will also be available.

And yes, you can decide which part of the painting you want to cut out. Just know that buying a slice means becoming a part of a larger project; everyone who walks away with a mini-mural will be photographed with their cut and interviewed on video. The resulting still photos and video will be used in a book and video on the project.

Cool concept. And I really like the the newer Dalek stuff without the space monkey.
