What happened to DOLK, by raiden on Aug 4, 2009 7:16:39 GMT 1, Wow, I almost posted the same exact thing today after seeing the "What happened to Nick Walker" thread.
I think Dolk may still be waiting for "Officer Down" to sell out before he puts out his next print! What has it been? A year, two years?
Last time I asked "where'd this one go," usually within a week I heard some crazy news about their new whereabouts.
As a side note, after thinking "what happened to Dolk?" I also wondered today, how did Hutch fall so far off the radar at this point?

Hutch is still doing shows and things, I look at his website the odd time and there was that "the beautiful and the canned" thing a while back. Havn't seen a strong release in a bit though. A lot of people think his stuff is tired and over-worked (like releasing the new colourway of rollergirl), personally I'm fond of Hutch, got one of those "ready in the can" prints and its amongst my favourites... still sparks the most conversation out of any pieces I have!

What happened to DOLK, by Daniel Silk on Aug 5, 2009 22:32:33 GMT 1, I think a big UK Dolk solo show is a must at some point I think if he had done one a year or two back he would be in a much better position now.
Opportunity lost I would say

What happened to DOLK, by baznyc on Aug 5, 2009 22:39:56 GMT 1, Only from a financial position could you assert it was 'an opportunity lost' Having spoken to him at length about his motivation I can assure you it isn't about the money. He loves putting his work on the street and this is his objective, not the money.

Nothing to do with money I just think it could have opened a few doors for him and allowed him to legally paint in some more prominent places.

An interesting point of view. But part of the thrill of putting your work illegaly on the street is the issue of choosing where it's going to go and the risk during its execution. Also he painted at Cans which was as prominant as you could get and that door opened on the strength of his street work.

What happened to DOLK, by Grubster on Aug 6, 2009 5:12:31 GMT 1, I believe his time is coming! He always does top notch work, especially in the street (his last stuff seemed like it was done on a farm out in the country but the work was great.) If anyone has pics that would be nice. Hopefully we'll see a solo show in the UK out of him soon, eh silky?

I would agree - I remember seeing that as well - i honestly think it was the best 'super hero' set I've seen from any artist.

So the next release will be free then or at least not for profit?

I would have thought galleries over here would be fighting over doing a show with Dolk maybe they have been, and Dolk just thinks its not the right time
It think a show last summer would have been good timing

What happened to DOLK, by Martin Whatson on Aug 6, 2009 18:54:19 GMT 1, I would think money matters but probably not as much as for many other artists. Why should he give away his prints or underprice them even if money is not the main motivation!? I think the important point here is that he can choose to release a print a month and put on a major show in the UK, but he decides not to, and rather focus on doing stuff on the streets! In my opinion Dolk is one of the real streetartists out there and the ghettospedalsk thing he and pøbel did is one of the most interesting things I've seen from the scene in years!
Can't wait to see some new stuff from him and I think we can expect it soon! I look forward

What happened to DOLK, by Wearology on Aug 7, 2009 15:33:09 GMT 1, Dolk is great - but if Dolk is Banksy and Banksy is Nick Walker than it is no surprise they have been quiet - because all 3 personas have been busy with the museum.
