obey tomorrow, by jamesreeve5 on Nov 4, 2009 17:25:26 GMT 1, wow... this is bad. No context, just flower he filtered in photoshop. At least the surfer print had the whole Pettibon tribute, SoCal vibe going for it.

We've established it's not a just photoshop filter haven't we? Or are you going for the Jboy challenge pt2?
And as far as a meaning behind it... there's a great website, it's called google!! and you can search for things on it!!
low and behold result number 1....
"My parents grew up in Rock Hill S.C. which is a beautiful town in a mostly rural part of upstate S.C. I worked with my Uncle Wade Fairey to create this art to benefit Historic Rock Hill preservation. The story of the Courtney Spider Lily art is that it is a rare flower thriving in the Courtney Island section of the Catawba river. The art is designed to promote water quality on the Catawba River which has been greatly affected by โrun off from urban developmentโ, bird โ wildlife habitation and โavailability of movement along the Catawbaโ, which has resulted in a 100โ buffer on either side of the river. There are many individuals and groups interested in seeing the Catawba remain a lovely river."

How does this work have anything to do with his overall body of work? Basically all he has done here is Fairey-ize a photo, there's no real artistic context. Just because something is done for charity doesn't mean it gains automatic artistic credibility!
