Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by grafik on Dec 16, 2009 15:12:02 GMT 1, not everything on the secondary has a mark up, most used items make a substantial loss, but, im sure your talking about luxury goods (rolex) and art (banksy prints), as this seems to be your chosen field of expertise. Anyway, Im not getting into a conversation about buying and selling. end of. Majority of luxury items do not fall in a recession, some people are weather proof to this. Not many rolex's are commanding premiums, the green glass milgauss was and at some stage selling for 50% mark up. Daytonas i think are starting to lose there appeal but again if your in the market for a £6k watch another 600/800 premium is peanuts. Cars as well, reventon lamborghini's would command a big premium, as far as im aware there is only 1 in the uk and in nottingham. From speaking to the chap he has his reventon roadster coming very soon (supplied by nottingham lamborghini) The 458 ferrari which will replace the 430 currently has 20k premiums on them as ell as the f60, replacement of the enzo £100k plus and nothing has even been announced, just brokers taking a punt.
someone on pistonheads too.

This!
For the most part this place has always been a collective of people with a passion for Art.
You lot go against everything this genre of Art has stood for, and very likely dragging it down on the way.Still as long as you make a profit....
For what it's worth each and every time post, i cringe a little bit more.Selling directly shows just how 2 bit you really are, if you were smart you would......

I must say that since I have been on this forum it has rapidly gone downhill and seems to be more about money than art, this Banksy release has seen more new or small post members justifying buying to sell than any other release I have known to date. I don't think it helps when a day after release established members post wtb new Banksy willing to pay £1200 £1500 or whatever, it just encourages more flipping. Flippers get their information from the forum then sell to the same members that gave them the information in the first place.

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by Martin Whatson on Dec 16, 2009 16:53:58 GMT 1, I think it's about time for banksy and POW to raise their prices. Selling theese prints for £750-£1000 from source would scare off the many of the flippers. And it will still be a good price for a Banksy print. The prices has actually gotten lower since trolleys. And smaller editions.
But to be fair. Someone else flipped this print to DV for a rolex first. But it would be decent of them to wait wait a couple of weeks before selling it on again.

I have always said, do what dface etc have done, put up prices to deter flippers. Simple
If prints were £1000+ flippers would be scared to get there fingers burnt.
Personally im all for prices going up, if peopel are paying £750 for a d*face print, people must be willing to pay at least £1000/£1250 or even £1500 for a print

Banksy • No Ball Games GREY, by steveh on Dec 16, 2009 17:15:29 GMT 1, Thought it was about time that instead of just reading this, I joined and actually posted having spent the night with a load of you!
Well worth it to my get first signed Banksy, and finally one at source.
Was lucky to be around a top group 90% of who were all there for the right reasons and actually wanted the print, actually turned out to be a really fun night!
Fair play to the guys who dashed down from outside London, Rob & Mark hope you made it back to Bristol & Southend quickly, and Mick, don’t think I’d have made it though without the late night emergency the supply of chairs and sleeping bags from your missus!
Crazy passers by, and crap parkings never been so entertaining! Just hope somewhere after last weekend there were people telling friends they saw a load of crazy fans queuing for Jedward tickets on Friday night!
Hopefully a few more on here will get their hands on a green one in the next few days!

I agree to a point on this but you have to also consider that if banksy did do a release at say £1250 and it didnt sell out. It wouldnt look good for him? Banksy prints DID NOT SELL OUT!
Why do you think he is doing smaller runs now (possibly worried he might sell out a 750 run), in the boom times(2007-upto middle of 2008) 750 print run, signed and in the down turn runs of 299-250
Like anything he needs to have a buzz round him, flippers help drive a market, no flippers no interest. Look at d*face, flippers have dropped there shoulder to him now, worst thing he did imo is push prices to high meaning no meat on the bone for so called "flippers" Every new release we're buying for under cost

Putting the price up to around £1,500 could be a risky thing to do

Please dont judge us, nor expect us to comment on everything that is talked about. No matter what we say, we'll always be looked at "you just want to flip this" so just like a few of the other galleries on the site we try and stay quite neutral but every now and again we have to put our foot down and get our voice across. I can go back to the days of the owner, black and chrome living in kilburn, bombin every wall with DAZ and DDS-ZONK/ZOMBY/COS smashin up all the train yards from north london to south london (christmas day was a special day to them ;D ) So if anything, im sure us as a collective, we could teach you a thing or too and for the record when i was down POW on friday night for over an hour, we got speaking to a few people, some of which have got on this bandwagon because it's the "in thing" So once again, at least we were at graffiti 10-15 years ago unlike many
