Just wanted to drop you a little note to announce a new print by Bast we will be releasing tomorrow around noon (Tuesday Jan. 19th) via the site, titled "The Wig". We have a couple of variations of this print to choose from with all the details to follow tomorrow but wanted to include a little preview of the piece today.
On the same note, I wanted to remind you all to book your flights or mark your calendars for the Faile Bast show with Lazarides coming up in a couple of weeks. February 11th is the opening night and from what we hear this is one not to be missed. We will drop a few more details as the date approaches so check back often.'

Haha potentially. I'm not sure what to think of it until I see the variations and a larger picture. I do like BAST's series of portraits though. LOVE them in fact. This one doesn't have enough color for me though.

lost his way? His recent portraits rock. All of the small collages at Rathbone last year were killer IMO. Also, out of the 6 prints he released last year 5 are beautiful IMO. The only miss was Calling Card.
This may not be the best example of his work but BAST is a guy that takes chances and clearly does what he wants.

I'd have to agree with akbape. Unfortunately for BAST much of his work does not transulate to the computer screen. I was lucky enough to land a Pink Holy Paris and a Pork Pie this year and think both of those pieces are great.

they should have offered 1 or 2 ogs and a few prints for a little less imo not 2 colorways anyway I hope we get some street pieces.

It took me a long while to "get" Bast, but once i did i was hooked. No other street artist comes close for me. It's hard to explain but you kinda have to get past looking at the the image in a rational way (it's a woman with a plane for a mostache  and feel its rawness, it just screams New York in the most genuine way.
Thats the best I can try and explain for the moment anyway!

But his recent protraits I feel are cold, lazy, ugly and dont say anything. Im much more attracted to Supine. His work has some narrative, emotion, warmth and beauty.

Have to say I am liking the look of this release by Papermonster and look forward to seeing what variations he brings to the table.
