WHAT'S WITH HIRST???, by organics1 on Jul 24, 2007 18:20:11 GMT 1, By good authority I have been informed that Hirst bought the entire collection of originals from the current Insect show at Laz. I've just found out that he did the same thing at the recent Rob Mcnally show.
What do you think he's up to?
Corner the market?
Control pricing?
Just loves these artists?
Or is his house just so Mother F*****G big that he needs tons of art to fill the walls.
Opinions please!

He kept going on about how you couldn't take money with you so he was buying art and his intention was to leave it all to the public when he died.
Perhaps that's why he's snapping up all the art he can - as it was a bloody big house
Jolly nice gesture I thought - but then I'd rather he let the ordinary joe get there hands a few pieces too

Spot on, I saw that one, that home was purchased just for his art collection. He said it was going to take 10 years to rebuild then It may be open to the public!!! then we can see all of the Banksys he owns.
