Mear One ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Print Release , by Heavyconsumer on May 26, 2008 21:13:45 GMT 1, Insane image! I think I like it. Need to give it a little time to sink in though, as there's so much happening and it's difficult to get a feel for it on a 15.4 inch screen.

Mear One ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Print Release , by Heavyconsumer on May 28, 2008 18:20:42 GMT 1, Love the process pics, thank you. These look excellent. that paint must be getting thick come the 11th application!
Just an afterthought, I guess these will have to be sent out flatpacked, can you let us know what the likely packing + shipping cost would be to the UK please?

Mear One ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Print Release , by Baurmann Gallery on May 29, 2008 10:02:47 GMT 1, Actually, we are able to roll these due to the cotton rag paper we used and size of diameter of the shipping tube. For the Strathmore Bristol Series 500 we use (such as for the mono-distortions), it has to be shipped flat due to the paper not rolling without damage. Since a Yazoo Mills tube is used with a 0.175โ wall thickness and 5โ diameter, we feel very confident rolling and shipping these editions, even with the acrylic paint. The test editions I have left rolled for a substantial period of time have flattened out perfectly with no damage to the paint in any way. We always use Yazoo Mills tubes and have had great success in the past. They can be shipped flat at an extra cost (if the purchaser prefers) but keeping the cost of these as low as possible on these was another of our major goals. 11-color editions should be far more expensive in my opinion, (especially when they are more like 20 color editions from a screen-printerโs perspective in terms of burning screens, since MEAR always does a test print and redoes most of the separations), but giving the best possible cost to get them into good homes is what we have especially been trying to do with these first 3 series in particular (the Hand Painted Separations, Mono-Distortions, and Street Series). Shipping costs are listed below: USA: $15 Priority Mail โ USA $30 Express Mail โ USA International: $33 Priority Mail International (anywhere in the world) $40 Express Mail International (anywhere in the world) When we start printing with oil-based paint instead of acrylics (when we continue to experiment in the future), I am sure it will smell even better The layering of all the different separations, building layer of acrylic paint on layer of acrylic paint (for all 11 colors/separations) produced such an amazing effect and outcome in my opinion. Paint just has such a nice, thick viscosity that though difficult to print with gives a finished product with such a rich, deep texture and coloring that pops out so strongly and luminously. Thank you for all the feedback so farโฆI am so glad you all like the process photos so much! Documenting the process is something I try to do extensively. Like SILKY said, it is a very special thing to be able to sit and watch these and other editions be printed (in my opinion) and I am happy to try to share that experience, involvement and insight if I can.

Mear One ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Print Release , by Heavyconsumer on May 29, 2008 23:45:06 GMT 1, Yes, it certainly does look like good value and great quality too. I'm, really shocked (being a relative know-nothing regarding such matters) that acrylic paint will withstand being rolled up for extended periods with no ill effect. That's interesting. Obviously the shipping charge to the UK is VERY fair too. Thanks Baurmann!

My pleasure!
Yeah, you can definitely roll acrylic or oil screen-prints without any damage , though keeping them (or anything in my opinion) flat is always the best coarse of action if possible. For canvases, the soft nature of acrylics and oils even allow rolling though I would never recommend it if it can be avoided by properly framing or storing it. With spray paint, due to its more brittle nature, all artists I know say to never roll it, though one of the Dondi White canvases I acquired(done w/ Krylon) was rolled for 20 years and it looks like it was just painted yesterday.
Please let me know if there are any other questions and thanks for the compliments on the print too!
