New L.E.T Pieces, by Dellboyy on Jul 19, 2007 0:29:33 GMT 1, Any ideas how to actually buy the pieces shown on L.E.T's flickr account? Has he got a shop somewhere, or do you have to contact him directly?

New L.E.T Pieces, by Carnage NYC on Jul 19, 2007 21:11:48 GMT 1, i keep going back to their flickr page thinking maybe i'll want to buy one of the pieces, but everytime i look at their stuff it looks like more of a cheap faile copy to me. just look at the butterfly girl. certainly not a coincidence. and the composition in some of the busier pieces isn't that great. but who knows, given time, maybe they'll have some ideas of their own.

New L.E.T Pieces, by orangematt on Jul 19, 2007 21:42:12 GMT 1, i agree there is a commonality with the legendary Faile pieces but to be fair alot of art is reminiscent or influenced by those that have gone before ..( same is true of music, writing, films etc) the exceptions are few and far between .. even Banksy follows roads first laid by the graff pioneers !! I think that unless you can afford original works by people like Faile , Banksy etc then what is wrong by supporting the work of artists like L.E.T. , especially if you end up with a nice looking piece of art on the wall at a fantastic price ( at a tiny fraction of what an original Banksy would cost you ! )

New L.E.T Pieces, by dave313perry on Jul 19, 2007 21:50:23 GMT 1, Its a good way to start, replicating an idol or established artist, refining your work to a high standard, then you can diverse into your own creativity and go with what takes you at the time, all artists works evolve over time anyway, in any aspect of art be it music painting drawing dancing or similar...

New L.E.T Pieces, by Strange Al on Jul 19, 2007 21:54:49 GMT 1, Sabeth - I have to agree. Both conceptually and in style they're absolutely doing the Faile thing. Just nowhere near as well.
Given the quality of Faile's work, there are worse artists to try and emulate. Though for me art is about expression and how can you really express yourself as an artist if you draw your inspiration so heavily from someone else's work? I'd like to see LET develop a style (whether by changing their execution or the narrative of their works), which tells me more about LET and sets them apart. LET is/are obviously talented and I think there is loads of potential. I'm very interested to see if it's going to be realised.

New L.E.T Pieces, by Carnage NYC on Jul 20, 2007 14:09:38 GMT 1, i'm more than happy to give them the benefit of doubt and see what else they come up with. but it's getting to the point where i have enough nice prints and want to save my money for great prints or work by artists that shows a little more promise. i mean, we're not in it for the sake of interior decoration alone, no? and there's plenty other stuff out there. but who knows, perhaps these dudes will blow up one of these days and then all of you who are buying now will have the last laugh ...

New L.E.T Pieces, by Dellboyy on Jul 20, 2007 14:48:54 GMT 1, I can definately see they have been influenced by Faile, which is probably why i like their style as i'm a big Faile fan!
But at the end of the day, Faile copy or not, i bought a piece by them because i like it and think it will look good on my wall!
Has the similarity between people like Blek, Banksy & Dolk ever put people off?
