i doubt very much if there are tens of thousands of these posters as has been intimated. they are not limited edition and they are not screenprints or made of gold but they are signed by damien hirst which basically makes them as personal as most of his art since the only thing he has to do with the fabrication of it is idea and decision on production. if you spend £75 thinking you are getting an original limited edition piece worth £7.5k minimum then yeah of course you are going to be disappointed but hey we all love art eh and these are damien hirst posters signed by damien hirst.... and i am very happy to have bought the three i did

Hi! This is my first message here and I want to tell all of you that have had problems paying with VISA at othercriteria.com. Even if you got a "transaction rejected by protx", check out your bank account NOW! I tried several times to pay and got the rejection message. But a look at my bank account there has been 5 transactions for the amount of 1111 swedish crowns each!!! So, do I now get 5 signed posters?! Hope not, cause I only want one and has already contacted the seller. And "hopefully" I will have my money back next week... Hope the mail system at othercriteria works better than the payment one :-(

There was a Hirst show here last year in the same gallery I'm using for nuart, they had signed posters at the opening for 100 quid. Went in there a few weeks back and in the store room they had literally hundreds pilled up on a pallet, galleries buy them direct from Hirst´s supplier. They cost about 10 pence to make.

not much art actually costs that much to make but blimey surely that isn't what we pay for...

we but creativity and desire and belief and dreams...

if you were in that cupboard with a thousand signed hirsts i wish you had just bought them and solf them to us sad art lovers on the forum instead of leaving them and then deriding us for buying what we love...

Yes, sorry, didn't intend it to be taken that way. Just meant that people should exercise a bit of caution with what they get swept up in. The economy in prints and art is booming and maybe you start with some nice Bansy prints but before you know it you've got Emin, Hirst, Chapman Bros etc in your targets, but really all you have is a signed poster. An autograph of a famous person... It's the equivalent of a signed band poster and as far away as possible from anything to do with art. Maybe you can afford to buy 75 quid autographs as well as newcomers 50 quid hand pulled prints, if so, then no harm done. But it does nothing to help, in fact It probably detracts from, anything that most on here are involved with. Supporting new and fresh art that challenges the prevailing "white cube" culture of fine art.

But really, this is not an Hirst, it's an autograph on a piece of paper. Personally I find it all a bit sad and distastful. Each to their own.. Enjoy
