I think Nu is right, whats going on??? Ive been following this thread and it seems that you guys are spending a lot of money on Posters with signatures. I know my posts maybe hard to grasp but this buying frenzy is madness. Hundreds of pounds on posters just to get a signature is a waste IMO. Its like the art books in the world, are they any different with the signature on?(Regardless of value) No they are not, prints are different but posters?.
As for the buying frenzy it seems it maybe starting to backfire on some. I went to a gallery yesterday (Won't name) To look at an original canvas, lucky for me it was still there. The good news also was that the gallery along with the artist refused to sell the particular work to certain people trying to make a quick buck, and they obviously knew who they were. (It was not Laz either)

Please dont take this the wrong way but dont buy stuff for buying sake as people are losing money trying to make money on the bay with a lot of stuff thats sold out over the last few months, buy what you like to put on the wall.

(I know my respect has dropped and will do again but I speak the truth) No lectures just a point I wanted to raise.

good point well made ABC, it's almost cancerous this whole signature debacle. i'm glad a lot of people on this forum got a signed poster by hirst, who they clearly love and will frame and display it and be over the moon with.

the downside is there also seem to be a few who think they've just bought an original for a bargain and are about to complete the sale of the century.

i'm not hirst's biggest fan but if i was, i think i would pay £75 for his signature. coupled with the fact it is on a piece of his work, albeit a poster.

i do think there is an heir of madness that surrounds us right now, which we've all discussed at length, and if there is a bandwagon rolling through town you can bet your bottom dollar they'll be a whole load of people desperate to jump on it.

p.s anyone who hasn't already should big up mr sausagebonwee for letting a whole load of hirst fans get an early christmas, well done.

for all the nay sayers, how is this different from the connor harrington or any other litho assuming there are really only 100 signed.

Looking at the site it says that "100 signed posters available now". What is to say that next week, 1000 signed posters will be available? If so I wouldn't be bothered, because 1) it would allow me to complete with a lanscape gold print, signed; 2) I like the images; and 3) it's been "handled" by the artist, who I respect.

I emailed for the story on edition size last night and havent heard back. Anyone in the UK wanna give a ring.

Ok, let's not get hung up on the 10pence quote. (cos it's actually probably just 1pence with the amount of these that are generally produced). But let´s say it like this.. 75 quid for Hirsts Autograph and the board steam in ?.. just find it surprising that so many people are after Hirst's autograph, he has been around quite some time guys.

My interest in art really took off with Banksy. Of course I was aware of Hirst and liked him, but never had a thought of actually owning anything by him. In the last years I've bought a lot of different prints and posters I like and even if it's a poster, the signature definitely adds to the feeling. I got three Kozyndan posters a year ago and I really like that they are signed.

And even if I've done and will continue to do a few "mistakes" if you only consider the economics, my banksy collection can most certainly pay for it! ;D

I was online last night when the link was posted and decided to pass up on this set of lithos. Although I wasn't able to get a proper look at the images on my computer (the pictures on the website are pretty low res), they didn't really do much for me.

I'm always interested to hear what it is that people like about the art they buy. I've been through the thread and it seems loads of forum members have bought the posters, but only a couple have commented on why they like them. So tell me, what sets this series of images apart from Hirst's other works (many of which you can easily get hold of as litho posters for well under £75)?

Well everyone steamed in and bought the signed and the unsigned are still sitting there, so I guess it's more about forum members wanting Hirsts autograph more than anything else. A tiny bit of 20th century art history perhaps. I've done the same in the past, I regard it as a major naive mistake on my part, which is why this interests me.

Wait 10 years and maybe he'll be signing Litho's too for 75 quid. And i take it back if i offended anyone, I can understand the buzz of this... just hope no one regrets steaming in and they don't all end up on the bay.

I bet if you put a Hirst poster up on the wall and a complete art 'novice' were to see it they'd think it was nothing special. Show 'em a Banksy and you'd get a smile. Hirst does nothing for me (especially the signed posters on sale) - I'm not here to follow the art masses. I buy what I like. Will anyone actually put these posters up? I don't think they deserve wall space (the signed ones anyway).

All the fun was over by the time I looked, I would have been interested in a The Death Of God (portrait) signed, If anyone gets one and doesn't want it, contact me, but I don't want to pay more than £75+VAT.
