Banksy on Channel 4 News - Street Art, by Pistol on Feb 16, 2010 16:44:03 GMT 1, Stood next to those two in the queue for NBG. Both nice guys. They told me on the night that they tried to get the wall displayed in museums and galleries but no one was interested. Apparently the Tate Modern said they had a three year waiting list. Will be interesting to see what happens next. Saw lots of pics on one of the guys iphones of the wall being moved, he also has a couple of great early originals on canvas. Lets face it most of us would have done the same given the chance, wouldn't we?

Banksy on Channel 4 News - Street Art, by monstris on Feb 21, 2010 15:05:31 GMT 1, They now have a PR firm... "ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK-SY
Banksy to go up for private sale for £500,000
Two young chancers from Clapham spend £13,000 removing a Banksy from the streets of South London and hit the jackpot after it’s valued at £500,000
Bradley Ridge and Nick Loizou are lifelong friends from South London.
On 9th November last year Bradley heard about a piece of Banksy street art appearing on Beddingtton Farm Road in Croydon.
Being a fan of the illusive street artist, Bradley thought he would seize the opportunity.
Nine sleepless nights later, a few threats of physical abuse, £13,000 in costs and a deal with a local land owner, Bradley and Nick now own a very rare a piece of modern art.
This collector’s item is the only piece of Banksy street art currently on the market.
In recent years Banksy walls have fetched up to £300k and celebrities such as Brad Pitt have spent around £400k on his studio art.
Bradley and Nick have already received one offer but are determined to maximise their opportunism.
For Press Enquiries please contact: [redacted] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE"
That was being pimped around via another PR firm, Idea Generation, who are known for arty schtuff.
"HI,
Hope you are well and like me looking forward to the weekend!
I am getting in touch quickly to let you know of a press release from a friend of mine in relation to a Banksy that through pain, grit and sheer determination a pair of friends now own the only piece of the cult graffiti artist’s street work on the market. With a price tag of £500,000 it is not one for the pockets of mere mortals and sure to set a rush of excitement through the identity-hidden star’s fan base, at least those with deep pockets. [redacted]"
