thought you guys would get a kick out of this one. this series has me cutting down security camera's and smashing them off walls with a bat, as a joke i thought it would be interesting to cut one of banksy' cameras down. so i used one of his cctv redo's to make the stencil for the background although i don't have the patience to get too intricate.

As it is, i cant stop looking at that teribl background.

Banksy CCTV cut down., by Ron Goldsurfer on Dec 22, 2007 19:30:39 GMT 1, I think you should have made it as an simple 2-color piece ala Banksy. Maybe just a grey square as background. A nd keep the paper/canvas white inside the motif. Thats my simple opinion ;-)

I feel there is to much in the picture at the moment and that the motif/point donยดt come across as good/strong as it could. But the last and final decisions is of course made by the artist, in this case Rene. Keep up the good work and good luck.

Banksy CCTV cut down., by Rene Gagnon on Dec 22, 2007 22:34:39 GMT 1, yeah i know what you mean about the criticism.. sometimes it makes you "think" differently but for me it certainly doesn't make me do it differently, even though others would like it done they the way "THEY" want. like i said i'm not going to sit and spend umptine hours cutting foliage, thats not my style, leave that to logan. so the cookie cutter look will have to suffice. i have 2 other versions of this, another is just the pole and figure on a ground plane with a medium blue background, and the other is life size 20 foot high on the street as a 1 color stencil which is really dope. i have lots of photos to go through this winter break so i'll update this post. peace...

Artists do change their images due to public criticism ( see Banksy, and where he put the gun in the wall stencil of the little girl patting down the soldier....he was told by a local that the gun should be on the other side. )

It is horrid!
The composition is rubbish, the use of colour is rubbish and the rip off Banksy tag is the icing on the cake.
