I am sorry to hear this, what has the "framer" said about the damage? Perhaps with a bit of heat they will offer to reframe the piece at their cost w/ archival materials, etc... Total B.S. Out them here and elsewhere if you are not satisfied.

This sucks. I know others on here have had similar problems with framers. Theres a recent thread on this. I think that if it were me I would want the framers to replace the print. Probably would not want them to reframe it in case they boged it up again. There is also the issue of problems you cant see as well as the ones you can. Good luck and yes out them here!!

they havent even framed it yet! the person ignored the damage and tried to pretend it wasnt there, i was shocked, i havent called them out yet. they want a ton of money to "archive" the print, for what reason? its damaged now..... i want a new print, and they should take care of that? is that too much to ask?

The print showed up in the tube, unopened with a note saying "only a professional framer should open this package..." something along those lines. It came out mint, I was there and NEVER handled the print, I also have photos of it the moment it came out, in mint condition. I never had possession of the print at any time, it has been there. I think they are gonna get railed by me... I am upset about it.

Not that you shouldn't be upset, but a crease from a clamp and a dimple at the bottom edges hardly makes a print worthless. Many auction houses won't even take the prints out of the frame to inspect. And really why care if it's the edge of the print that you'll never see?

Another gritty, edgy "urban art" print totally ruined by a dimple! .......Anyway sure, they should definitely comp you on the framing cost. I'd ask them to charge you for only the cost of the frame, no labor. Or ask them to comp the cost of the entire frame and start to bargain from there.

this is your pic at the framers right? the print was in mint condition when you dropped it off correct? I would take them to small claims court and demand money for a replacement. I had a similar situation in NY and I brought my case before a small claims court judge and won all of my money back. I used the expressobeans database and ebay sales to prove how much the print was valued at. I ended getting $775 backl to buy a replacement print, come to find out a intern dropped a book on my print and creased the hell out of it....Somebody fuc*ked up somewhere....Good luck
