WTB MR BRAINWASH, by Scraffer on Mar 2, 2010 0:43:30 GMT 1, The reason I own my Invaders; not because of artistic merit, but because of the STORY behind them. This is the same for my Blek (although he does have talent, that's not the reason I got it)... That is also why I'm gonna get an MBW.... Who on here can hand on heart say they buy prints because of the artistic talent that's gone into them, as opposed to just because it looks cool...

WTB MR BRAINWASH, by Scraffer on Mar 2, 2010 0:50:23 GMT 1, I remember a chap once who was disrespected by the rest of the artistic community, and his pictures were rejected by the big shows at the time. People thought he was sh*t... So sh*t in fact that he only sold 1 painting in his lifetime.
His name was Vicent Van Gogh...

Having said that I make a connection everyday between toilet paper and my s**t, so connections aren't their all CRACKED up to be. ;D ;D

WTB MR BRAINWASH, by boaty on Mar 2, 2010 1:02:54 GMT 1, Any idea on when it's going on general release and more importantly when it's hitting NY?....if I hit lotto by then, I'm buying you lot tickets to come to the big city and attend a private showing with me......
i think maybe people should see what happens when the film goes on general release, we are among a very small number that have seen it.

WTB MR BRAINWASH, by shosho on Mar 2, 2010 1:05:25 GMT 1, I get the feeling some people on this forum think their taste is far superior to others if freerange wants to buy mr brainwash whats the problem? the film has captured his imagination and im sure he wont be the last. Whether or not he's a banksy prank or whatever else people are speculating he is in the inner sanctum of one of the greatest artists of the past decade banksy doesnt just do films about anyone prank or not. In the uk we had Richard Hamilton far superior IMHO to warhol technically and possibly the first artist to take print making to another level. Along came warhol and ran with the whole pop art mass production thing in a more obvoius and cheesy way they are both relevant to pop art history in diffrent ways as is Lichtenstein, Blake, Tilson etc,etc move to the 70's and you get your Richard Serra's, Chuck Close's, Bruce Naumans with their process's and minimalism it doesnt matter who started it or who was more poplular at the time my point is most artists in a movement will have one artist that is revered by all but they will all be remembered and maybe so will brainwash

please know the facts before you proclaim you know what you are talking about. just because banksy is famous here, does not mean they know him in the states.
i take it you have been to the states, because without any disrespect to our neighbours, they dont give a shit about anyone else in the news apart from their own areas. alot of americans dont even own a passport and have no idea where the UK even is.

WTB MR BRAINWASH, by Ottomatik on Mar 2, 2010 4:55:34 GMT 1, Speaking as an American, I can say that with the massive press explosion for Mr Brainwash with the show, Madonna Celebration art, and the film. MBW is our version of Banksy. Yes, MBW is more known over here than your beloved Banksy. More people have started buying prints with in the last year or so in the states, and MBW has released at least 15 prints within that year. Banksy, only 2. (with 2 variants each) Both were from UK source. If B released more prints, I do think his popularity would rise. But remember, it's America, we want quanity, and quality. Of which Banksy lacks one of those.
As for your passport comment...that's just stupid! I've been to London, it was before my eyes were open to this whole art world. The shopping was great, as were the fish and chips/beer. But Amsterdam is where it's at!

WTB MR BRAINWASH, by mattgold on Mar 2, 2010 15:52:55 GMT 1, I think prices are going to be a very nice Bell Curve over the next year or so on MBW. Of course, I'm sure that doesn't matter to you folk. But if it does, and you really want a MBW, I'd just wait it out. We're probably in the first/second stage of it right now (Hype, Chatter, Controversy).
Remember, most American's have very short attention spans. Once something better comes along (and it will) - its time to toss the old toys to play with new ones.

You can fit the UK into texas twice. we are fuck all. so if america is broken its broken.

Freerange, what exactly are you looking for? I just sold a Brainwash "Anarchy" London print for under $200 on the bay. I do have some other prints that I'd love to keep, but maybe we can arrange something.
Prints: Le Bistro, Chocolate Vandal, Framed Tomato Spray, Don't Be Cruel, Stones London
