There were 60 different designs but I am looking for 2 of the designs in particular - one with a drawing of a microscope on it and one with a drawing of a chemical symbol - RX. He got those two symbols - I got the cross and the fire retardant symbols (which aren't on the matchbooks). It was the print in sothebys that made me realise that the two symbols featured on the matchbooks.
I can't run to the print (ยฃ10k-ยฃ20k) but an original matchbook or the poster would be fantastic.

My hope where shot down after the first lot a couple of cocktail glasses estimated at ยฃ80 I think went for ยฃ1.6k.... that was the end of bidding me me :-) Nice to see some chap buy one of the pharmacy cabinets for over one million!!! Anyway good luck with your search, there used to be a few bits come up on the bay, but not so much now. I've still got the catalogue and prices.

actually the first lot (the martini glasses) went for ยฃ4000.
similar story for me though, monkeyart.
i really wanted lot 2 (a complete set of ashtrays) which had an estimate of ยฃ100 - ยฃ150.
i put in an absentee bid for ยฃ600 thinking i had it locked, and was outbid by ยฃ1000.
as a consolation prize i still have the sotheby's letter: "we regret to inform you that not all of your bids were successful", which kills me as in fact i had won nothing from the auction.

This could possibly mean that a piece bought with Sothebys authentification may not indeed be as authentic as a piece without it. : )

I like Jasper Morrisons designs, nice and clean, as far as chair design goes though they dont do anything for me but i can see why people would want them as they have the story / provenance etc., plus you can always use them as chairs!. Cant see the ones on ebay going for a lot so maybe a good buy for someone.
