3 LEAST FAVOURITE BANKSY PRINTS, by low3 on Aug 9, 2009 16:09:21 GMT 1, I think this is an interesting thread, providing people aren't just slagging off prints with the intention of driving down prices. It was the last thing on my mind when i listed my three.
Its interesting to know people's thoughts on Banksy's releases, by the very nature of art not every image will strike a chord with every person. Especially someone like Banksy with a large body of releases which cover a varying range of styles (to an extent) and show a progression of thought. Surely the idea is that you like what you like and if you don't, don't buy it. Or am i being a bit simple?

Festival: Cant even say why, it just does nothing for me.
Napalm: Just wouldnt want this poor young girl on my wall.
Sale Ends: Just again does nothing much for me, cant even really explain why.

For the plain and simple reason that I think they're all aesthetically weak. I'd include Grannies for the very same reason. If those 4 prints look naff just a few years after they were made I can't see them standing the test of time.

For me one of the biggest draws of Banksy is that so many of his ideas are so powerful yet so simple they leave you thinking - I wish I'd thought of that.
With Morons though, I personally don't get any of that... So extremely rich people have a dick measuring competition disguised as a fine art auction every few months or so where they spunk obscene amounts of money on subjectively important works of art. And what? Tell us something we don't know Mr B - don't just whack a photo of the event on your lightbox and trace over it then write something obvious where the picture used to be.
Just my tuppence.

The question is subjective and left to run long enough then every print ever released would eventually appear in someones top 3! We all have our favorites, it would be a boring place if everyone liked the same art, surely art is designed to be personal and to affect different people in different ways?
There is obviously fuck all interesting to talk about elsewhere and I can only assume boredom has resulted in this thread being formed, sorry, just don't get the point!

Applause - Too big, not particularly well executed, weak theme.
I also think that Napalm and Toxic Mary are powerful images with strong messages but they don't sit easily on the wall. I even owned a signed version of the former and flogged it to buy an enormous Peter Blake 'First Target' print as its a much more visitor/family friendly image to have hanging in my sitting room.
