Price check threads...Please read, by walshy on Apr 6, 2010 14:20:32 GMT 1, Just and idea.... but beings as there are more and more price checks on prints in the sales section, would it make sense to have just one thread where all the requests are put ? That way they are all grouped together and the same question is not asked every week.
Please give me some feedback on this, if it sounds good Ill ask silky or a mod to put all the requests from the last month or so together and that can be the start of the new thread
Please not that this would be for requests only and anyone that wants to sell or buy a print would still have to start another thread
thanks walshy

Price check threads...Please read, by mattgold on Apr 6, 2010 15:00:33 GMT 1, Personally, I really hate big threads like that. Too much info, too many posts, and with a search function that is finicky at best it may not be that useful for research (and thus causing unneeded posts.) I believe a sub-forum would work better, where Subjects can reflect whats inside for easier browsing.

what about the threads that are 10 pages long already ? Its not the sort of thread that will be used everyday so I thought it made more sense than trawling through the whole sales thread everytime, especially with the amount of sales posts each day it would make things easier.
I also think that there are far too many sub forums as it is (7 at last count) my suggestion would also help this place be less cluttered (only a little I know)

Price check threads...Please read, by curiousgeorge on Apr 6, 2010 16:02:29 GMT 1, Price check threads are hard imo, on the one hand you have owners of said bits not wanting to see the prices low/market value, thus talk up prices. Then buyers looking for bargains and pointing out ebay sales (we no feedback) or they know someone who sold at x price.
Just like newspapers, believe nothing you read.Call me a cynic but unless I'm there to see pound notes being handed over i take 99.9% of sale prices with a massive pinch of salt

At least those threads are on one (ten) topic(s). =) What I'd hate to see is a thread that gets to 70, 80, 90 pages... Ever see the WK For Sale/Swap/Wanted - ugh.

Well the questions will be asked regardless and the banter will continue. I think this is more to the point of organization / cleaning up the designated For Sale / Wanted Forum.

I agree that it would be nice to have a condensed/concise up to date thread, but ultimately the info within can and probably will be skewed to suit individuals motives

Given the very foundations of this place are built on that, i don't hold much hope

I think people are missing my point. Valuation questions are still going to be asked whether you use my idea or not. So do people want lots of threads all asking valuations or 1 thread with all the info on.
As for getting to 40 pages, logic would suggest that by the time that happens prices on page1 could change.....so just ask again.
To clear this up... My idea is simply to put all the info together so forum members know where to look

Price check threads...Please read, by spirit on Apr 6, 2010 17:50:04 GMT 1, I don't think it's good idea because you will have to search through a long thread to find the info you want - and it might not even be there. Much easier to find when the thread title matches the print you want to find out about. Info will also become dated quickly. Currently this isn't a problem because the individual threads die away and people start new ones but in one big thread the older info would stay up.
By all means have a sub forum of the ebay forum for price checks to keep them organised

I do think most people asking for pricing are people who have one for sale.
Now if you had of asked for the 'good seller' / 'bad fucking swindler wanker seller' thread, you would have my full support :-)

The unsigned soup can is not even listed on expressobeans and it the last price it lists for a coloured signed one is $1834 from march 09 - but I seem to recall one or more of these selling for around ยฃ4K earlier this year.

Surely it takes time ? I mean people still post items for sale in the main board, but thats no reason not to have a sales section is it ?
