Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by finsburyparkranger on Apr 8, 2007 22:24:16 GMT 1, The image used is from Dans web site i think. I have a feeling the images on his web site and the actual print are slightly different. Not so many bullet holes. But maybe I'm wrong.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by bond on Apr 10, 2007 15:31:51 GMT 1, Welcome sir , well you never quite know
Nobody on this board would have seen the explosion in Banksy prices over the last little while. If we did , as well as loving the art we'd have probably got a radar rat , BME or signed anything to help us towards " feet up " !!
I often look at my politics print and disneyland Horror Politics and think - looks great , damn genius in fact but will they one day be feeding my kids !!!
cheers

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Art-el on Apr 10, 2007 17:54:02 GMT 1, Silky
When you say they'll soon be 1k+ I assume you are talking about the editions of 50?
Any idea why we've seen loads of the editions of 50 turning up on the bay but none of the giclee editions of 150? I know as I previously stated that they're still available (Forster + Art Republic) but that doesn't usually stop plenty of chancers listing them?
The only one I've seen is the one I bought! Thoughts on this please anyone?
Mike I think I can safely say you won't be dissapointed
Out of my range but I actually think some of those canvases are VERY reasonably priced.
Cheers

bcfc,
Nah, I think the 150 editions will be getting into that sort of range by the end of the year I really do! ;D when people get to know what quality they are getting, it aint gonna take long for the Β£300 /150 prints to start going for over Β£1,000

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by finsburyparkranger on Apr 10, 2007 21:11:14 GMT 1, I'm so tempted to borrow on the never never and pick up more of Dans work . The last time i had that feeling was with Banksy two years ago. I'm not going to though, I've got two prints and I just can't afford anymore. I'm just going to accept that I'll be doing alot more cringing in years to come. ;D

Hmm, I'd say there were quite a few Dan Baldwin level artists out there, you just gotta look.. his relationship with Micallef and being a bit "pop" is doing wonders in the "boom".. but what happens in the bust
There's only one Banksy.. and Mr Dan is not even close in comparison IMO.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by reados on Apr 10, 2007 21:26:35 GMT 1, although, im really pleased with my politics i think Dans work possibly lacks the narrative that some of banksy's pics have, but there is some skill in the prodution and execuion of Dans work which does produce some nice results.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by romanywg on Apr 10, 2007 21:55:02 GMT 1, Dans work doesn't seem to be going anywhere. It's all 'very now' but as reados said it lacks narrative. Most are just pop images stuck together nothing linking one to the other. Just pop wallpaper. Nice pop wallpaper though.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by finsburyparkranger on Apr 10, 2007 22:42:02 GMT 1, Yeah I agree. He's not going to touch Banksy's importance, jesus who is. Also your right about the narrative for most of his previous work. However it seems he is developing one now. Look at his latest print. It's a well developed piece that is concerned with the darkness of war. It really works for me. With Dan's style combined with an intelligent and yet accessible message, I think he could go very far indeed. My presumption is that this is the direction he will now be taking. We shall see.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by ziggy on Apr 10, 2007 23:48:37 GMT 1, Dan's work is being picked up by a lot of the Banksy crowd but he also has sold a lot of work to a different type of art collector, ones who don't own or want to own Banksy stuff (apart from the obvious financial gain that is). I think Dan and his PR people have done an amazing job in getting him 'out there', expect to see his work in very 'non Banksy' locations over the next few months.
Like others have mentioned, the quality of the prints and the level of work that goes into them is very impressive. When I was down in Brighton the other week I was told by the staff at Art Republic that Dan had been there best selling artist to date. I think what they mean is his stuff is selling faster than any other artist they feature. When they are framed up and put in a gallery enironment they really do leap out. My only fear is the number of prints coming out (about 10 a year in editions of 50), that's quite a few prints especially as nothing will cost less than Β£500 going forward I imagine.
Regarding the content of the art, again it's very different to Banksy and not really comparable, with a Banksy print, it's a pretty straight forward message within each print, very little is left to be interpreted by the viewer, Napalm for example, I don't think we all have very different views on it's meaning. 'Disneyland Black Horror Politics F*ckup', now were do you start, either way you will get a lot of different interpretations and that is what makes his work compelling in my eyes. Just my thoughts!
BTW, the list of canvasas a few posts up is out of date, the Forster Gallery don't update their website very often, I think they have 2 or 3 left, maybe less now, that was a week ago.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ New Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by ABC on Apr 11, 2007 18:43:13 GMT 1, Having had a peer through the window at Dans show I can say that I really like most of his stuff. I think there is a big difference though in the visual impact between the Editions of 50 and the 150 print runs. Not sure why it worked out the way it did but the Black Horror and the Holy Fuck print are the best IMO. but why were they a run of 50 and not 150?
