Banksy Film - Lambeth Palace Cinema - Leake Street, by nigelbgg on Mar 3, 2010 15:16:41 GMT 1, From Hurt You Bad... When Banksy first came on the scene he was a mediocre graffiti writer. He soon gave up on that and became an urban artist with a PR agent. Nothing unusual about that except he kept fronting his graff roots and when he blew up he became known as the figurehead of graffiti to Joe Publics worldwide. He had given an unfair comparison to the kids getting up, brushed aside now that “someone was doing it in a humorous and intelligent way”. Credit where credit is due, Banksy got up in the first few years, but these days the feeling is that most of his work is completed by a troop of assistants so the hype and graffiti figurehead status feels disappointingly unjustified to anyone who’s helped culture to where it is today.
This week and last, Banksy finally put the last nail in the coffin of the spectacle he’s worked so hard to orchestrate – ‘IT girls’, wannabe models and faces on the coke scene wielding ironlak cans at the premiere of ‘Exit through the gift shop’, getting a ‘taste’ of what it’s like being a writer, if only for a moment. Well done Banksy, you’ve not only made graffiti publicly acceptable, you’ve made it look so cringeworthingly gimmicky that I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to love it in the same way again. Bravo!

A bit cringe all this...no? And as someone else said, this idiot is holding the fag 30 cm from the spray of the can! Kaboom..gone. I don't know, the whole celebrity guest list and all...is a bit too much.
