Micallef Lithographs on Laz.inc NOW! , by BK83 on Jan 16, 2007 21:21:07 GMT 1, We are please to announce the arrival of three new lithographs by Antony Micallef.
They have all been printed on Somerset Velvet 300 gsm and stamped with Curwen Chilford embossed stamp. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
The print titles are: We Come In Peace (71.5 cm x 81.5 cm), Bomber Girl (68.5 cm x 82 cm) and Minotaur Weapon (70 cm x 82.5 cm).
There are 50 prints in each edition and they are priced at £4000 + vat each, plus posting and package.
The print will come with a letter of provenance signed and thumb printed by Mr Lazarides.
As always, due to the popularity of the artist's work, we will be selling the prints on a first come first served basis and limiting one litho per customer.

Most of the original works of art in the Wonderful World exhibition were priced around £5,000 plus VAT and whilst of course they all sold out on the first night all I can say is what a difference two months makes! Now where have I heard that before on this forum!
I suppose all I can say is if you like it and you've got the cash, get in there now while it's still 'cheap'!
I also read somewhere today that the British Art Fair has a few dealers selling Banksy and Micallef prints.
That's even more expensive than the last Laz edition of Banksy Soup Cans and it's a larger edition! I don't think the connor print will be that pricy, it's his first print AFAIK.
Sure the Micallefs will sell, but not to me, 4 grand will get plenty nice (better) things on ebay!

....not happening!

Bombhugger - I don't think people are getting necessarily skanked - the prices are in line with the happenings at eyestorm, Micallef has a piece in the Sotheby's auction, etc. Fortunately/unfortunately this is big business, and only certain people can play in this league. I think that these are priced with the current market - as a smart gallery owner should do. That being said - I'm sure not buying one

if you were laz what would you price new litho's of Micallef - better quality print and smaller editions than 21stCL and DD - especially as they flew out the door at eyestorm for 3 and 4K ?

the desirable and expensive works of tomorrow will be those that were limited but had major exposure upon release.
my point being that yes these works will not lose value (the dealers will see top that), the real works of art are those that affected people without hype, prejudice and reputation.
at times like this, move on and look for new (and affordable) talent.
